1 EXPRESSION OF INTEREST For the Supply of GPS RTK Rover and Reference Station Services The Corporation of the City of Thunder Bay (the City) invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from interested manufacturers and suppliers of GPS RTK Rovers and GPS reference station services. Responders are invited to also bring forward other ideas for our consideration that may meet our GPS surveying needs. The City recognizes that implementing RTK GPS surveying equipment within the City limits will reduce time spent collecting engineering survey data, improve survey response time for new projects, and will require less staff for some work tasks. In order for these efficiencies to be achieved the City has identified that a permanent GPS reference station must be incorporated into the GPS solution. The City is collecting information to assist it in determining what GPS equipment and reference station solution would be fully compatible with the survey equipment currently used within the Engineering Division. The City currently operates the following equipment and software that the GPS RTK Rover and GPS reference station must be fully compatible with: Trimble S6 Robotic Total Stations (controller for Rover must be compatible with the S6) Trimble TSC3 Controller (Rover must be compatible with the TSC3 controller) Trimble Access Controller Software (Rover must be compatible with software) Trimble Business Centre PC Software (direct import/export from PC to Controller) The City may consider acting as a host for the reference station hardware in exchange for access to the reference station service, and/or other considerations. It is expected that this implementation may occur in The City will regard this EOI as an Open Entry Process and is being used for the purpose of research and information gathering. Following the closing of the EOI, the process will likely follow the steps outline below: Submissions received would be reviewed Where appropriate, the specifications may be revised A competitive procurement(s) would be issued for the GPS equipment and GPS reference station partner. The GPS equipment and GPS reference station partner will be selected from the proposals received. The response to a Request for Proposal will not be limited to those submitting an EOI.

Your submission should provide the following information: General Information 1. A description of your firm detailing qualifications, history, staff; 2. A company description, exact location and address; 3. Contact information including phone & fax numbers and addresses; 4. A list of other municipalities, Cities, counties or other large scale users using your GPS RTK Rover and/or reference station services; 5. Any other supporting information you may wish to include with your submission. GPS Rover Information 6. Complete details on the GPS RTK Rover equipment and accessories you are recommending for engineering project surveys (i.e. topographic surveys, establishing horizontal control, construction layout), including product specifications, and certification. 7. Specific details outlining how the equipment meets the compatibility requirements defined in this document. GPS Reference Station Services 8. Complete details on the GPS reference station services you are recommending for engineering project surveys (i.e. topographic surveys, establishing horizontal control, construction layout), including product specifications, and certification. 9. Specific details outlining how the equipment meets the compatibility requirements defined in this document. If you are only recommending a GPS reference station (not a GPS RTK Rover) then the rover you must show compatibility with is a Trimble R10 RTK Rover. 10. A sample host agreement that the City would be asked to enter into if the City were to host the hardware on City property, including types of payment/reimbursement or other considerations.
