Please review all documents in your package carefully and sign and return the Code of Conduct/Media Release to the 4-H Nova Scotia office immediately. Please feel free to reach out to Shannon Weckman at shannon.weckman@4hnovascotia.ca or ext. 3 with any questions or concerns you may have. REMINDER: Please return the yellow Code of Conduct/Media Release form. There are six open spots available during an intermediate camp. Week 3, which runs from July 22 to July 27, has six spaces available. We are looking for three male campers and three female campers. All campers must be between the ages of years. 3 - Our newsletter needs a name and we want your ideas! - Each month 4-H Nova Scotia sends an information newsletter to its membership, this newsletter is currently referred to as the 4 H NS Update. Use your imagination and come up with a catchy and fun name that reflects the newsletters goal of providing important information to our provincial 4 H members and volunteers. The top 10 names will be selected by 4 H Nova Scotia and announced in September. Clubs will get to submit their votes on the 10 finalists in October. Our winning newsletter name will be announced in November. Submission Deadline: August 30, 2018 Please complete attached form and submit to 4-H Nova Scotia via , mail, or fax! The survey is for all members, volunteers, family, and public. You do not need to have attended 4-H Weekend to fill out the survey. 4 If your club/county is holding a 4-H event in a location or facility that requests proof of insurance, an insurance certificate is required. To obtain an insurance certificate clubs or counties would complete an Insurance Certificate Request Form (attached) and return it to carolyn.gibson@4hnovascotia.ca. In circumstances where multiple events or activities are being held by clubs and/or counties in the same location the 4-H NS office can get one certificate that lists all relevant clubs and the counties. This saves the clubs/counties the time and effort of requesting individual certificates. An example of this would be for County Exhibitions when the Exhibition Grounds requests proof of insurance, or when multiple Achievement Days are held at one location. If you have any further questions regarding insurance certificates please contact carolyn.gibson@4hnovascotia.ca. Resolutions for the H Nova Scotia AGM must be received by 4-H NS by September 15, NO LATE RESOLUTIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. For information on who can initiate a resolution, a summary timeline of the resolution process and tips for developing a resolution please refer to the 4-H NS Resolutions Process (attached). Please submit all resolutions using the 4-H NS Resolution Form found in the attached resolution document. This template ensures that all resolutions presented for consideration by Counties and then at the Annual General Meeting are consistent in their presentation and content. Clarification on the wording has been made regarding how many trios (pairs) a member is permitted to show, and the number of trios (pairs) eligible for Provincial Show per county. The adjusted newsletters have been sent to counties from ALCs and are attached. The clarified wording reflects the standard practice from previous years, which was not intended to change this year. If you have questions or need further clarification, please contact your regional ALC prior to your club s Achievement Day. 4

Charitable and non-profit fundraising in Nova Scotia? The Ticket Lottery Regulations have been amended to increase the prize value that can be used under a Ticket Lottery Permit from $500 to $4000. If you are planning a fundraiser for your charity/non-profit organization, please use the link below for more information. The Woodsmen Committee coordinates the program for the 4-H Woodsmen Members and specifically the competition at 4-H Weekend. The Woodsmen Committee currently has representation from the Eastern, South Shore and Cape Breton regions. The committee has openings for new members representing the Western and Central Regions. If you are interested in filling one of these positions please your name, contact information, any 4-H club or county affiliations and a short description of your relevant knowledge, skills and why you would like to be a part of the Woodsmen committee to carolyn.gibson@4hnovascotia.ca. 5
