1 External Funding Resident Funding Opportunities RSNA Research Resident/Fellow Grant Provides trainees not yet professionally established in the radiologic sciences an opportunity to gain further insight into scientific investigation and to develop competence in research techniques and methods. $30,000 for a 1-year Research Resident project or $50,000 for a 1-year Research Fellow project, to be used for salary and/or non-personnel research expenses. Requires a minimum of 50% effort Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award Recognizes and encourages trainees who have played an active role in radiologic research during the past year. Participating North American residency programs receive an award plaque with room for each year s nominee. The Foundation provides a personalized award for the department to present to the selected resident or fellow. Application Deadline: Mid-July AUR Strategic Alignment Grant Applicants must hold a M.D. degree (or equivalent), be board eligible or certified in radiology, and have Junior Faculty Funding Opportunities RSNA Research Scholar Grant Supports junior faculty members who have completed the conventional resident/fellowship training programs but have not yet been recognized as independent investigators. $75,000 annually for 2 years ($150,000 total) to be used as salary support. Requires a minimum of 40% effort. RSNA Research Seed Grant Enables investigators to gain experience in defining objectives and testing hypotheses in preparation for major grant applications to corporations, foundations and governmental agencies. Up to $40,000 United States Dollars (USD) for a 1-year project to support the preliminary or pilot phase of scientific projects. Open to international applicants

4 ARRS Clinician Educator Development Program Each year 25 junior faculty nominees are selected and receive a $1,000 grant to attend a two-day workshop to gain proficiency in teaching skills and designing educational activities. Only TWO nominees per institution will be accepted. All attendees will receive a $1,000 educational grant only after attending all the required programs. Application Deadline: Late December ARRS/Philips Healthcare Scholarship One faculty per department per year The scholar may choose a one-year program requiring a minimum 80 percent time commitment, or a twoyear program requiring a minimum 50 percent time commitment. Application Deadline: Mid-November ARRS ASNR Scholarship The scholarship program is open to junior full time faculty members (below the associate professor level) specializing in neuroradiology. The ARRS Research Subcommittee in conjunction with members of The Foundation of the ASNR will select one scholar each year to participate in a two-year program. The scholarship will provide $150,000 ($75,000 per year); it requires a minimum 50 percent time commitment. GERRAF stipends are paid annually in $70,000 installments directly to sponsoring institutions for salary, research and education support in exchange for protecting half the Fellow's time to conduct the approved Applicants must currently hold a junior faculty appointment

Rogers International Fellowship in Radiology Journalism The Rogers Fellowship is an award that provides 1 recipient per year with an opportunity to work closely with AJR editors and staff to learn the fundamentals of medical publishing. Open to international applicants ARRS Leonard Berlin Scholarship in Medical Professionalism Unlikely to give an award to more than one candidate per department per year Scholars may choose either a one-year program requiring a minimum 50 percent time commitment to be funded at $100,000, or a two-year program requiring a minimum 25 percent time commitment to be funded at $50,000 each year. Application Deadline: Mid-November AUR Research and Education Foundation Venture Fund for Affinity Groups To support and invest in the missions of the respective AUR Affinity Groups, and to promote collaborative projects among Affinity Groups. Innovative projects are to be proposed by individuals through the AUR Affinity Groups, with the aim of addressing stated needs of one or more of those groups. Each Affinity Group can submit up to 1 independent proposal per year as the sole recipient, with a maximum request of $5,000. However, there is no limit to the number of joint proposals that can be submitted in collaboration with other Affinity Groups. For a joint proposal, the maximum request is $10,000. Each proposed project will be funded for 10 months, but submissions for proposed funding continuation of an existing project are allowed. 11 UAB Medicine Multi-Investigator Planning Grant RFA The UAB School of Medicine invites exploratory/developmental grant applications for the establishment of an infrastructure for eventual applications for multi-investigator research programs, such as Program Project grants (P01), SPORE grants, Center grants (P30, P50 or P60), U-series grants or Multi-PI R01 grants from NIH or other funding agencies. The Multi-PI R01 grants should have inter-related projects, at least 3 PIs, and should be requesting more than the standard modular budget allows. Please note: standard R01 type applications will not be considered responsive to this RFA. Application Deadline: LOI and Application due in October UAB Medicine Impact Awards The IMPACT awards are intended to augment recruitment and retention packages for outstanding, highly-funded faculty ranked at the Assistant Professor level or higher. These state monies are intended to foster economic growth as assessed by increased extramural support to UAB and by an increase in research employees who are supported, in part or whole, by extramural resources Application Deadline: Continuous UAB Medicine Bridge Funding Bridge funding provides some continuing research support due to uncertainties in external funding.
