4 Levels of giving are down The 2017 CAF World Giving Index revealed that the proportion of people throughout the world who reported donating money in 2016 was the lowest for three years. Overall levels of giving (helping a stranger, donating money, and volunteering time) across Europe, Asia and Oceania were also below their five-year averages. Large gap between big and small charities In Sweden, the 20 largest charities account for roughly three quarters of the total income for the sector. Lack of mobile solutions 94% of respondents to the 2017 Global Trends in Giving report said that non-profit organisations must invest in charity app development. The 2017 Global Trends in Giving report found that although only 6% of respondents currently preferred to donate using mobile technology, 66% of them would use a mobile app that made giving simple and offered rewards. Lack of trust in business The findings of one 2015 CSR study underline exactly why it is so important for businesses to associate with and contribute to socially responsible causes: 91% of respondents expect companies to do more than just make profit; 84% seek out responsible products whenever possible; and 90% would boycott a company found to be engaging in irresponsible or deceptive practices.
