1 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES: 2016 MULTICULTURAL EXCELLENCE PROGRAM GRANT To widen the net of opportunities for young diverse players who aspire to excellence in competitive tennis. To assist junior development programs in enhancing the skills of their coaching staff. To help programs become more successful in creating competitive players who have the potential to achieve national or international rankings and to obtain a college scholarship. Grant award is up to $10,000. GRANT REQUIREMENTS: MUST BE ABLE TO COMPLETE EACH REQUIREMENT LISTED BELOW: Complete and provide the D&I department with a written evaluation and goals of the program. Submit two letters of recommendation (one from their USTA section, and one other, preferably a community reference) along with grant proposal. Register to be a National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) chapter/program. Offer a year round program that provides a high level of on-court instruction and off-court training. Have a history of developing tournament level players. Offer entry-level programming that feeds into Excellence/High Performance programs. Have a verified and sustainable collegiate pathway plan. Show fundraising capability and potential for self-sufficiency. Have nonprofit status or sponsorship through a nonprofit organization. Submit Grant Accountability Reports on June 10 th, 2016 and November 18 th, ADDITIONAL GRANT REQUIREMENTS - MUST COMPLETE ONE OF THE REQUIREMENTS LISTED BELOW: Support the American Tennis Association by sending a team to the ATA National Championships. Conduct a PTR/ACE Workshop or apply for certification through the USPTA ADD Program. Run one Early Development Combine to prepare players for Section Early Development Camps. Work with Section Player Development staff to nominate coaches for the Section Coaches Commission. Have at least one coach apply for the USTA High Performance Coaching Program. Both forms are due to the USTA as a condition of funding. Failure to submit timely accountability reports will negatively impact your ability to receive funding in the next calendar year. Failure to submit any of the two accountability reports in 2016 will subject the program to returning funds to the United States Tennis Association for breach of contract and will affect future grant eligibility.
