Demetrice Bryant is looking forward to working closely with Emory s research community to continue to build upon and improve our currently available education resources as well as to expand our communication channels to better support those who conduct and support research at Emory. Within the next few weeks, Demetrice will be sending out a survey to all of you which will allow her to better access the current state of these areas at Emory and determine how we can best alter or expand our programs to better support everyone involved in research at Emory. 2 Cayuse 424 Q & A! Question: Help! I can t see my Opportunity in Cayuse 424!! Does that mean I can t use Cayuse 424 to submit my grant proposal?? Answer: No, that is not what it means. Rather, users need to understand how Opportunities appear in Cayuse 424. Please see below: 1) All Opportunities available at Grants.gov may be retrieved into Cayuse 424 regardless of whether the opportunity is supported for proposal submission by Cayuse 424. (Over 98% of Grants.gov opportunities are supported by Cayuse, including almost 100% coverage for DHHS and NIH grants.) 2) Opportunities are not automatically pushed from Grants.gov into Cayuse 424. Opportunities must be retrieved into Cayuse 424 from Grants.gov. 3) Once one Emory Cayuse user retrieves an Opportunity, it is then available for all other users in the system. 4) To retrieve an Opportunity: a.click on Retrieve Opportunities in the upper portion of the screen on the Opportunities tab. b.under Opportunity Number enter the exact opportunity number (e.g., PA for a sample NIH Program Announcement). c.click Retrieve Opportunities in this dialogue box. d.cayuse 424 will then retrieve the Opportunity from Grants.gov. 5) If the Opportunity is supported by Cayuse 424, a green + button will be available to create your proposal. If the Opportunity is not supported, a yellow caution sign will be found in place of the green + sign. As noted above, very few opportunities are not supported by Cayuse. 2

3 From the Offiice for Clliiniicall Research (OCR) Announcements Always enter research participants in ERMS on the SAME DAY that they sign the initial consent form. If research participants are not entered in ERMS on the same day, it directly impacts the timely submission of research billing forms as well as patient safety. The ERMS on- study notification triggers the following: Entry of the patient in EeMR Entry of research information in the Clinical Trials tab Activation of the Clinical Trials banner Upload of the study level documents (i.e. PRA, IDS Summary, Key Points Summary) Upload of the patient level documents (i.e. ICD) A monthly report of late entries will be sent to your departmental contacts for review and escalation if necessary.
