2 1) Bristol Older Peoples Funding Alliance The Bristol Older Peoples Funding Alliance (BOPFA) is a group of grant funders that have come together to share information and coordinate their own allocation of financial resources in order to meet the priority needs of older people within Bristol and help organisations address the changes needed in order to survive 2) The Transformation Fund In response to the changing funding environment, the Alliance wants to help organisations change and adapt in order to meet the needs of older people in Bristol. This fund is not for the delivery of services but BOPFA have established to support organisations to: a) Redevelop or improve services, and/ or b) Address sustainability, and/ or, c) Use innovation to make an impact on an issue that affects the quality of life for older people 3) Grant amounts Each organisation can apply for up to 15,000 to contribute to one or more of the above aims. This should be used within a maximum period of 12 months from the allocation of grant. 4) Eligibility This fund will accept applications from organisations that: a) Have a main focus of delivering within Bristol b) Provides services that seek to improve the quality of life of older people. 3 5) Criteria The transformation fund is open to applications that can meet the following criteria: a) There needs to be a clear challenge or issue that is to be addressed with the funds b) There should evidence behind the proposed impacts on an issue that affects the quality of life for older people c) Evidence of collaboration where appropriate. d) Applications should evidence the involvement of service users in the work e) Applications should identify the changing needs of older people who access their service. 6) What do we want to fund? The following are some examples of the kinds of projects we would fund: a) Investigating opportunities to acquire or use assets such as buildings to produce new revenue streams. b) Activities that improve delivery c) Exploring or moving to new business models d) Setting up social enterprises or trading arms to generate income e) Gaining skills to enhance organisations fundraising capabilities, including loan finance f) Strengthening board and key staff skills. g) Setting up mergers, h) Supporting improved collaboration i) Evidencing the impact/difference that the organisations makes to the quality of life of older people. j) Using technology to improve efficiency and reach. k) Service Redesign l) Capacity and capability building m) Organisational costs directly related to any of the above. 4 7) What wont we fund? The transformation fund will not fund the following: a) Costs for continuing usual delivery b) Core costs (other than those directly related to what we would fund) c) Fundraisers d) Grant writers e) Costs associated with insolvency 8) Timescales The deadline for all expressions of Interest is Midday on 22 nd February After these have been reviewed by the Alliance, shortlisted organisations will be informed by 9 th March All shortlisted organisations will be required to complete the full application by 3 rd April 2018 and successful organisations will be informed by 1 st May. 9) Expression of Interest BOPFA would like organisations to complete the Expression of Interest so that we can get an initial idea of your proposal and check that it fits with the aims and criteria of the fund. 1) Main contact for this application Please identify who is the main contact for the application. 5 2) About your organisation/group This section gives us an understanding of what your organisation is and does. This creates context for the bid and will help BOPFA members make the decision. 3) Your proposal This section sets out what you plan to do with the grant if you are successful and also allows you to prove how your proposal meets the aims and criteria of the fund Please set out how much you are applying for We want to know what you are trying to change with this proposal. Please set how you would like your organisation to look and what you want to change in order to achieve that. This doesn t need to be in a lot of detail but should give a summary of the challenge you want to address. We suggest your answer is no more than 400 words In this question we want to know the detail of what you will spend the funds on in order to meet your ambition and make your changes. We suggest your answer is no more than 400 words This fund is specifically to support organisations working with Older people and in this question you should give evidence and examples of the current needs of older peoples accessing your service how this proposal will address those needs. We suggest your answer is no more than 400 words. 4) Finance and Compliance We ask about your finances and policies to ensure that all funded organisations are financially secure and have governance in place to support their delivery. 10) Full Application Transformation Fund - Guidance 5
