3 Job Title: Reports to: Hours: Term of Post: Salary: Senior Trust & Foundation Officer Grants Manager Full-time (37.5 hours) Permanent Competitive Established in 2000, Caudwell Children works to transform the lives of disabled children and their families, enabling them to challenge the barriers they face throughout childhood by providing practical and emotional support. The Charity is preparing to enter an exciting period of change with plans to open a new state-of-theart therapy and research facility later this year on the Keele University site. This world leading facility will act as the Charity s new Head Office, as well as a Medical Assessment Centre for research into childhood disabilities. PURPOSE OF THE POST: To support our exciting development plans, we are now looking to recruit an experienced Senior Trust & Foundation Officer, reporting directly in to the Grants Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a key role for a dynamic, fast moving Charity. The post holder will drive forward exciting organisational programmes and initiatives by securing external funding. Engaging with grant-making trusts and foundations, you will explore and identify opportunities for funding, developing relationships with grant managers and foundation trustees. You will be a confident and effective grant fundraiser with a strong track record in producing successful, high quality applications and tenders, with the ability to identify and work closely with private trusts and foundations. The ability to communicate compelling messages in written form is essential, as is the ability to use excellent interpersonal skills to influence and engage with stakeholders and potential funders at all levels. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Generate income by research, design, writing and submitting detailed applications and tenders for capital and revenue funds to ensure crucial support for our much needed services. Contribute to ensure the delivery of the Grant Department Strategy to ensure effective business development within the organisation. To develop bid winning proposals as set out in the Caudwell Children business plan and Grants Strategy. To write and manage high quality, winning bid documents which are tailored to meet the needs of Caudwell Children. To manage the bid information, documentation, activities, resources and communication flow so that bids are delivered successfully, on time, to quality standards and budget. To research tender opportunities and present cases for support to senior managers and commissioners. To produce accurate, substantiated and compelling content for each bid. To contribute to the team s effectiveness by helping to develop and share good practice and keeping up to date with relevant professional developments.
4 To assist in the analysis of all relevant contracts and SLA s to ensure they comply with the expected outcomes. Provide information in relation to periodic returns, completion of performance monitoring statistics and contracted outcomes. To establish effective working relationships with all funders. To develop innovative contracting approaches to achieve positive outcomes for service users. To liaise with users, providers and other agencies in identifying opportunities for joint working and innovation within Caudwell Children aims and objectives. To maintain confidentiality and ensure the work undertaken complies with safeguarding, child protection, equal opportunities, health and safety and other policies and guidelines. To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the role and participate in appropriate training activities. To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this post. The above list is not exhaustive. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Energy and vision to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of disabled children and their families. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, both internally and externally. Experience (and success) of writing bids, grant applications and tenders. Understanding of the tender/bid process and awarding authorities requirements. Ability to interpret financial information. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good standard of English and Maths is essential. Relevant degree would be desirable. Excellent IT skills, use of the Internet for research and on-line documentation submission. An good eye for detail and a thorough, methodical approach. Ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines. Ability to work well under pressure. Highly motivated, flexible and adaptable approach to work. Ability to work individually and part of a team. Ability to attend evening or weekend events/meetings as required.
