1 PROGRAM GUIDE Welcome The Itasca Teaching Partnership (ITP) is a program intended to enhance and broaden Itasca s tradition of support and collaboration with universities around the world. We welcome your interest in the program. Please note that the application needs to be submitted no later than two months before the start date of your class. Objectives Itasca s principal objective in operating the ITP is to find avenues to support talented educators with the means to teach future engineers and scientists numerical modeling tools that will aid them in their careers and research. Itasca is committed to furthering the disciplines of geomechanics, hydrogeology, geochemistry and geophysics, through both leading edge science and practical application. Program Offerings The ITP offers instructors the ability to have access to Itasca software (UDEC, 3DEC, 2D 3D 3D PFC, PFC, FLAC, FLAC and MINEDW) in their classrooms, on a limited loan, as teaching tools. For more details on loan restrictions, please see the application form on the following page. Due to high demand, opportunities are limited. Itasca responds affirmatively only to a minority of applicants after review by our own experts; however, we encourage all interested instructors to apply. Enrollment Enrollment is open year round. SECONDARY ADDRESS CITY STATE/PROVINCE ZIP/POSTAL CODE COUNTRY CLASS INFORMATION The purpose of the Itasca Teaching Partnership Program is to aid educators in teaching their classes by providing a restricted software license, at no charge; therefore, please note the following: ŸAll software and keys are loaned out only for the duration of the proposed class in this application; ŸUsage of Itasca s software must strictly remain within the parameters of the submitted class syllabus; ŸSoftware can be used only by the instructor(s) and the registered students for the proposed class; ŸCodes provided are subject to an Educational Loan Agreement that specifies the terms of use for the software; this agreement is supplied on application approval; and ŸSoftware is distributed once the completed agreement has been returned to Itasca. 4 EDUCATION LOAN AGREEMENT NOTES / TERMS Over the past years, Itasca has developed proprietary codes designed for the analysis of geotechnical problems. Itasca derives its income, in part, from the sale and support of these codes. While Itasca is willing to lend the codes to selected instructors for classroom usage on short term leases, it is important to note and abide by the conditions of this agreement All code loans are to be sponsored by a faculty member, whose signature must appear on this document. FLAC, FLAC 3D, UDEC, PFC 2D, PFC 3D, 3DEC, and MINEDW are the exclusive property of Itasca. Itasca retains all rights to these programs, and nothing in this agreement abridges these rights. respect to any use of the code and any damages or losses that may result from such use. You, as the recipient, assume responsibility for the selection of the program to achieve your intended results and for the installation, use and results obtained from the program. Itasca assumes no liability whatsoever with respect to any use of the code and any damages or losses that may result from such use. No code is to be used for any consulting work or contract work conducted by the academic institution. The recipient may use the code only to fulfill the work stated on the submitted course syllabus in this application. Any other use of the code is forbidden. The recipient may not copy, modify or transfer the program, or any copy, in whole or in part. Furthermore, the recipient is responsible for preventing any and all unauthorized use of this copy of the program. The recipient may not re-sell, sub-license, rent or lease this program. Access to Itasca software technical support will not be available to the students in the course stated in this application. The instructor will be offered limited software technical support. The manual is provided in electronic format on CD-ROM. However, paper manuals can be purchased for an additional charge if desired. This charge is non-refundable and the user may keep the manuals The recipient agrees to return the hardware lock(s) after the loan date has expired.
