1 COURSE TITLE: CITIZENS ACADEMY OVERVIEW: Attendees will learn the daily operations of the Sheriff s Department, along with policies and procedures within law enforcement. Various topics will include the history of the Sheriff s Department, key functions of the Sheriff s Department, law enforcement ethics, and criminal laws. Various guest speakers will discuss topics pertaining to Forensics, Volunteer Programs, Special Enforcement Bureau, and Media Relations. During this academy, the citizens will have an opportunity to tour a jail facility and/or the Coroner s Office in Perris. 2 BEN CLARK TRAINING CENTER Riverside Sheriff s Department Citizens Academy WAIVER FOR PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT The undersigned hereby waives any and all claims against the County of Riverside, its elective and appointed boards, officers, agents and employees (herein called County ) for any injury which may result from participation in the Riverside County Sheriff s Department Citizens Academy in which the undersigned agrees to participate. The undersigned also hereby agrees to and shall indemnify, hold harmless, and defend the County from all liability from loss, damages, or claims for personal injury, including death, as well as property damages which may arise from the Citizens Academy, in which the undersigned agrees to participate. Such program includes classroom sessions, demonstrations, and physical participation in practical exercises, entering and/or riding in County vehicle(s) during the performance of the County s official duties and demonstration thereof.
