The Chamber Directory is a popular resource used by current Chamber members, community leaders, community residents and visitors. Event Calendar - Printed and wapakoneta.com The online calendar of events features event details, locations, times, and contact information. Website visitors can forward events to friends, print events, and set reminders about each event. Members also have to ability to add their own events with Chamber staff approval. The printed Calendar of Events is widely distributed in the community at hotels, restaurants, museums and other attractions. Monthly Printed and Electronic Chamber Chat Newsletter and Calendar You will receive this monthly publication featuring important updates in our business community and membership information for free, both printed and ed, and will be eligible to place inserts for free up to four times per year. This offer is not available to non -members. This publication reaches more than 350 business and community leaders each month, a number that grows as our membership grows. Weekly Member Monday and What s Happening in Wapakoneta With Member Monday we offer you a no-cost way to promote and publicize the important happenings in your business. Whether it's new staff joining or being promoted, new products or special offers, or events and special awards we want to tell people about it. Stories given to us by 9 AM on Monday will be included in that week s Member Monday. The weekly What s Happening in Wapakoneta is delivered every Wednesday to our membership, highlighting that week s events, restaurant specials, what s playing at the Wapa Theater and a member spotlight. Brochure Distribution at the Wapakoneta Community Development Center The Chamber handles dozens of consumer, visitor, and tourism inquiries daily by referring Chamber members only. Members may display their business brochure and business cards for the many visitors at the chamber building as space allows. Referrals to your business by the Wapakoneta Chamber staff Unlimited referrals to Chamber member businesses in response to consumer inquiries for local products and services are guaranteed. Referrals are made in person, over the phone, or on our new website.
5 BUSINESS ASSISTANCE Chamber Gift Certificate Program All Chamber members are eligible to participate and accept Chamber Gift Certificates which are purchased for employee incentives, year-end bonuses, and gifts. The goal of this program is to track local dollars spent in our community and promote local shopping. Last year, more than $15,000 in gift certificates were purchased and redeemed at member businesses. Chamber Member Mail Lists and Mailing Labels Members have access to mailing lists of Chamber members or a set of mailing labels for a nominal fee. Chamber Member Survey Chamber leadership has developed a survey targeted toward enhancing your membership investment. This annual opportunity allows members to give timely feedback on programming and member benefits. Business and Self Development Resources Starting your own business is hard work and can be a journey filled with uncertainty and apprehension. It can leave you feeling overwhelmed if you don t know where to turn for answers. The Chamber is committed to your success. Our local companies are in need of local talent, who all too often do not realize the great opportunity right here in our own backyard. The mission is to connect job seekers of all ages with local businesses, aimed at steering high school and college students and adults toward the appropriate education and/or training that can lead to a career that is available right here, right now. Event Assistance Whether you are planning a meeting, an event or a sale in your store, we are here to help. Bulk Mail Permit The chamber has a bulk permit number year and members may use that permit number for their direct mailings and avoid paying $150 per year for their own individual bulk permit. Postage charges are additional and paid to the post office; but note, are at a greatly reduced rate thanks to the bulk mail permit.
6 NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES Chamber Sponsored Workshops and Events at a discounted rate Members are first to be invited to the many workshops and events we sponsor through the year and are able to attend at discounted rates. Networking Functions These valuable events include the opportunity to be involved with the Annual Dinner & Awards Ceremony, Summer Moon Festival, breakfast and lunch networking events and seminars, and many other special events. Ambassadors Visits & Ribbon Cuttings A ribbon-cutting ceremony is a great way to recognize a special event. The Wapakoneta Area Chamber of Commerce is delighted to help your business celebrate with a ceremony and will be happy to facilitate a ribbon cutting. This service is at no cost to chamber members. It is just a nice way for the Chamber to help you and your business. Chamber Committees Your involvement is vital to the Chamber s success and we want your input in any way possible. The Wapakoneta Chamber is involved in community development, beautification, tourism, promotion, legislative affairs, retail promotion, festivals, and so much more. 9 CHAMBER COMMITTEES The Wapakoneta Area Chamber of Commerce has four standing member-driven committees and an Executive Committee of officers to assist with major Chamber events, provide feedback on Chamber benefits and services, and help run the day-to-day operations of the Chamber. Committees are open to all Chamber Members and their employees. If you are interested in or if you would like more information on one of these committees, please let us know. Member Services: To establish and monitor programs to develop and maintain the organizations membership by giving attention to current business concerns and being active in attracting new members. Legislative & Education: To monitor the activities of local, state and federal legislators, especially those issues of economic importance to the membership and, when appropriate, develop positions on those issues that reflect the needs of membership and the community. The committee will provide forums for communication between the membership and elected officials and allow business leaders to share with educators the needs for the Workforce of Tomorrow and assist with curriculum recommendations as per the tenets of the Wapakoneta City School District s strategic plan. Manufacturing & Business: To provide a forum for the Wapakoneta area s industrialbased businesses where opportunities and problems can be discussed; and where programming can be provided to answer the specific needs of the demographic. Tourism: To recognize tourism as a major factor in Wapakoneta s economy and to promote the area as a destination, taking advantage of local attractions, local history and special events, and to promote good will and public relations for the Chamber of Commerce and the Wapakoneta community. Executive: To serve as the leadership of the board of directors with a direct responsibility to secure and protect the organization s financial resources, and to develop the monthly business meeting agenda to reflect timely and pertinent issues.
