1 The President s Volunteer Service Award The President s Volunteer Service Award recognizes United States citizens and lawfully admitted permanent residents of the United States who have achieved the required number of hours of service over a 12-month time period or cumulative hours over the course of a lifetime. This is a recording mechanism for all of your volunteering that you do for multiple organizations. You don't volunteer for the PVSA, the PVSA is awarded in recognition of the volunteer hours you have spent in service to others. It can be especially helpful for girls in 8th-12th grade who will be filling out college and scholarship applications. The Route 66 Service Unit is a Certifying Organization and can order earned awards. Below are instructions for how to set up your account on the PVSA website and how to start recording your volunteer hours. GSEOK Route 66 Service Unit President's Volunteer Service Award Page 1

Create your online account Go to http://www.presidentialserviceawards.

2 Create your online account Go to Click on Get Involved ~ Volunteer On the Volunteer page, click on the Register button. You ll be taken to the page where you can create your login account. GSEOK Route 66 Service Unit President's Volunteer Service Award Page 2

3 Fill in all of the information requested. You ll then be sent to the Welcome screen where you can modify your profile and enter your Record of Service key. GSEOK Route 66 Service Unit President's Volunteer Service Award Page 3

The Record of Service key allows the Route 66 Service Unit to be your Certifying

4 At the bottom of the Profile screen you ll see where you can add your Record of Service key. The Record of Service key allows the Route 66 Service Unit to be your Certifying Organization. 5 Click on the Save button. You ll be returned to your Profile page, where you will now see the information for the GSEOK Route 66 Service Unit as your Certifying Organization. This does not mean that you can only enter hours in support of Girl Scouts. You can enter hours for any organization for which you provide service. It just means that the Route 66 Service Unit is assuming the responsibility for certifying that you have worked the hours you entered and will order the award package for you at your request. Click on the Add Activity button to enter hours.

6 Enter Hours for The President s Volunteer Service Award Now you can start tracking your hours by clicking on the My Service button. Click on the Add Activity button to enter hours. 7 The Save/New button will save the information and leave you on the same screen to enter your next entry. The Save button will save the information and return you to the Record of Service screen and show your service history. You ll see that you can either Edit or Delete each entry. If you need to change any of the information about the service, click on Edit. If you entered the entry incorrectly and need to remove it, click on Delete. 8 Receiving the President s Volunteer Service Award The President s Volunteer Service Award recognizes service over any 12-month period of time or cumulative time over a lifetime. When you have completed 12 months of service and have all of your hours entered, please contact the GSEOK Route 66 Service Unit at route66su@gmail.com and your award will be ordered. You or your troop is responsible for the cost of the award. See below for the hours required for each level of the award (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Lifetime) for each age group (Kids, Teens, Young Adults, Adults, Family/Groups). You can also find below each of the award packages that can be ordered. This same information can be found on the President s Volunteer Service website. 9 Award Eligibility Any individual, family, or group can receive Presidential recognition for volunteer hours earned over a 12-month period, or over the course of a lifetime. The following are the eligibility requirements for each age. Kids: Age 5-10 Teens: Age Young Adults: Age Adults: Age 26+ Families & Groups 2 or more people, with each member contributing at least 25 hours toward the total.
