4 CITYNET MISSION What We Do Connect urban actors and cities across Asia Pacific; Provide sustainable learning platform among our members through customized capacity development, localized workshops, city-to-city cooperation, and special projects; Advocate city-level issues in global level discussions and influence both global and regional policy deliberation; Implement special projects to help fill gaps to long-term urban development challenges; Enable policy, technology, and technical knowledge transfers among our members;

5 SOCIAL SERVICE DELIVERY INNOVATION As a regional association, CityNet provides regular demand-driven programs to its members - capacity building / city to city exchange programs CityNet also has a sub-group called SDG Cluster - members discuss new ways of approaching SDG localization, sharing best practices and initiating actions CityNet Secretariat manages this cluster - All efforts fall under framework of SDGs

6 Urban SDG Knowledge Platform The most ideal platform to connect best practices for SDG between cities Cities are always finding innovative ways to solve urban challenges for sustainable urban development, but most of these innovations are never disseminated widely through the Asia Pacific region. Through the Urban SDG Knowledge Platform CityNet, Seoul Metropolitan Government and UN ESCAP addresses this knowledge sharing needs for cities to implement innovative ideas and best practices for sustainable urban development

7 CASE STUDY : Aksiku.bdg Digital Platform for Neighbourhood Data Mapping & Design Thinking Workshop for the Youth

8 1. BACKGROUND The youth in Bandung needs a pathway to enable them in critical thinking, voicing their concern and participating in the urban governance, but such way has not yet provided The government needs a way to assess the environmental issues in Bandung but lack the resource to engage in a monitoring survey on regular basis 2. OBJECTIVES Raising youth s environmental awareness through fieldwork experience and their interaction with neighbourhood stakeholders Each school may adopt the program independently according to their own context Youth participation in the city s decision-making process through collecting neighbourhood data (education, health, and environmental issues, etc.) in digital/web format Departments at the municipality can use the collected data to develop public policies

IMPLEMENTATION The first pilot project was manually conducted in 2014 in one district without use of any mobile app. CityNet funded this project in 2016 and applied this project to 4 high schools in 5 districts with better mobile app. One of district offices is planning to implement one of the proposed ideas using the district's budget next year, namely public park and waste sorting machine Mayor of Bandung was particularly impressed by the idea of getting a simple water purification system initiated by a school, after reflecting on the poor water quality around their school area. In addition, they are now working to promote this idea to the provincial level, West Java Province

REPLICATION / PROSPECT Scale up in high schools in Bandung and Indonesia : The mobile app and activities design would be innovation for the existed environmental education and sociology curriculum Scale up to youth in Bandung, Indonesia : involvement of youth organization (Karang Taruna) in recognizing and intervene in social based security issues in their neighborhood For municipal : The Aksiku.bdg website would serve as digital environment monitoring and neighborhood social mapping platform. The project generates real-time data and it informs the municipal to prioritize their action citywide
