5 River Alliance of Wisconsin Local Group Assistance Program River Alliance staff are available to: Discuss funding issues with local groups; assist with development of River and Streams Protection grant proposals. Work with interested individuals in starting new local organizations. Consult one-on-one via phone conferences or visits, on any aspect of organizational development or program work.

6 How Can I Improve My Project s Chance of Getting a DNR Grant? First, long before the application deadline, talk about your project with the DNR employee who will rate your proposal. Second, review the rating criteria used by the grant program. Third, make sure you know the deadline and plan your work accordingly.

7 Do You Want to: Build your river organization? Inform and educate the public about river issues? Assess your river s water quality, fish, and aquatic life? Evaluate sources of pollution in your river?

11 Do You Want to: Protect your lake, river, or wetland from aquatic invasive species (AIS)? Educate and plan for AIS control? Find and quickly destroy new AIS infestations? Control established AIS infestations?

12 The Aquatic Invasive Species Control Grant Program Might Help You Counties; cities; towns; villages; tribes; lake districts; sanitary districts; qualified lake associations, river management organizations, non-profit conservation organizations, and school districts. 50% reimbursement of costs up to $10,000 - $75,000 state share.
