3 Dear friends and well-wishers, CEO s UPDATE With great delight, we present to you this annual book, which captures the journey of the year that was and the path for the one that is going to be. In the interest of brevity, we will try to contain it in four key elements the impact that we created, the work that we did, the way we engaged stakeholders and the manner in which we grew. IMPACT During , we benefitted 100,000+ children and youth through our programmes in school education, employability and technical education. In an impact study conducted by KPMG, the SMART programme, our flagship initiative, brought out a social return on investment (SROI) of 13.29, that is, of social value is created for every 1 that Tech Mahindra Foundation invests in the programme. I am also very happy to report that we spent considerably more money on CSR than was mandated through Section 135 of the Companies Act PROGRAMMES The Foundation s programmes in Education and Employability expanded to schools to improve learning in schools and build capacities of government school teachers; and 65 SMART centres. Disability remained an underlying running theme across both programmes. ENGAGEMENT AND OUTREACH Our volunteering programme grew in a big way with at least one activity every day, and we engaged almost 10% of the total 100,000+ strong workforce of Tech Mahindra. In addition to these people ambassadors within the company, we brought out many publications, films and digital media resources, which further advanced our work under corporate social responsibility. HUMAN RESOURCES As an organization, we grew to become a 50+ strong team, spread over 10 locations in India. We attracted and worked with some of the most qualified, experienced and committed social sector professionals and organizations. I am happy to report that we also forged a number of corporate partnerships with Mahindra Auto, Schneider, Voltas, Tally and so on. As we venture into yet another year of challenging, interesting and useful work, we put our heads, hands and hearts together, and call you to Rise for Good with us.
