Guesthouse What was a 1 room caretaker house has become a guest house for volunteers or people taking part in projects. It can also provide an income to make the centre sustainable. 3 rooms have adjoining bathrooms, plumbing is finished, but tiling to be done + 1 room needs tiling. There is a lovely big veranda overlooking the land which will get railings and steps. All windows will get ornate security grids. All work is undertaken by high quality local crafts men. Newsletter/
Guesthouse Annexe decorative ceilings On the left you see Munsa, the carpenter, designing the ceiling. Each design is different. His calculations are aways very accurate & his work adds to the high quality of all the building. Ibrahima Soumah, very experienced in running computer classes has helped us install the equipment and design the program Computer Learning Project Teaching people to use computers has been a big priority plan. With the help of internet you can learn and find help for so many problems. We have been fundraising for this since 2014 and have sent donated computers & equipment beginning of We haven t raised funds for all the aspects of it but we are pressing ahead with what we have and a pilot class has started. We need more computers as we need to meet demand. The teacher is donating his time in the moment. Newsletter/
Sewing project There are not yet enough funds to finish the sewing room, so we have decided to loan out machines to help women to create an income. This is only possible if they have electricity. We are planning sewing training & production at the centre where there is ample solar power. We have worked with Hadiatou, on left who can lead the sewing training. We tested the work with some trials. 9 Animals and plants Beymax (No2) Goats 3 goats had 4 more kids, 3 black and 1 white. Sadly last year s boy died of illness, so we named the white one above after him. There are now 9 goats. Chicken The chicken laid many eggs and hatched many chicks. People were also eating some of the eggs who are luminous yellow and very delicious. 15 of the new breed were shared to help local families. This a bumper Yam grown at centre, compare it to the size of foot behind Then: disaster struck, a chicken epidemic descended on the area and killed all but the one on the left. She must be very resistant The families who had received chicken have given some back to make up the original numbers. She has started to lay a lot of eggs, her off-spring might inherit her immunity. Life in Africa is precarious, humans or animals are quickly felled by the lack of medicine, the available expertise or the funds for it. Newsletter/
Alanouwaly Salifou Sylla Guinea Helping people Ousmane Keita, a painter working on the building expressed his deep gratitude after Alanouwaly was able to donate for his hernia operation. There is no National Insurance for when you re ill. This year we have again brought around 140 kg of donated clothing and shoes to help local people like these 2 mothers & their children. The car has driven for emergencies around 12 times A donated bike from UK now gets Idrissa Biaye to school Mohamed, a volunteer & his wife Eliza (left) have named their first son after Salif. We were able to pass on a generous parcel of clothes and baby items donated from England. This bike sent from UK was used by pupils at centre to go to school. They have decided to give it to Idrissa Coumbassa for rehabilitation after a stroke Newsletter/
The water project working with Eau Pure Alanouwaly Guinea collaborated with Alexander Sigmund, a german water engineer and his Eau Pure de Guinée Project. They have helped to release his container, find support from local politicians & is organising the installation of solar pump with panels for the local community in Donghol. The Alanouwaly centre hosted the Eau Pure crew and many volunteers put in many hours to assist the project. Alanouwaly UK assisted the collaboration and contributed to the cost of this. This is the tank and the solar panels mounted on a frame made by local ironmonger. We are hoping to find more opportunities to bring about clean water sources. Alexander has also has sent equipment and tools for his project and to assist Alanouwaly. Newsletter/
The years of building the centre and the work of unifying and motivating local people and trying to find international partners are now starting to bear fruit. More projects are on their way. We have seen inspiring solidarity and voluntary contributions. This is the strength of Alanouwaly Guinea under the leadership of Seny Coumbassa to inspire people to work together and combat any scale of corruption. All achievements are due to this and this is Alanouwaly s biggest core worth that takes constant commitment and energy We are proud to have got this far and thank all our supporters for contributing to this. If young Africans can create a better future in their own country there s no need to risk life and limb to reach the very uncertain shores of Europe. The local government officials and radio station visited Alanouwaly to find out about the various project and the organisation. There was a glowing report on Radio 30 Blagdon Road, London SE13 7HH, UK info@alanouwaly.com Newsletter/
