1 Water Innovation Challenge Singapore 2014 APPLICATION FORM FOR WATER INNOVATION CHALLENGE PLUMBING DESIGNER/ENGINEER TEAM MEMBER The WorldSkills Foundation has announced a pilot program called Water Innovation Challenge/New Water Challenge and is inviting international multidiscipline teams to participate and collaborate on a series of hands-on design challenges. The theme of the challenge is new water ways in which to create and control water supplies in specific international community environments The challenge is comprised of two parts. The first component involves the design and documentation of a water solution to meet customer specifications and to demonstrate the team s skills in the use of a range of water technologies. The second component involves a range of demonstrations and practical components related to plumbing and sanitation in a community setting. The teams will work together to accomplish the first component in their home countries. The teams will then go to Singapore from June 1 6, 2014, during International Water Week, to compete on the second component of the challenge. I am pleased to announce that the United States will be sponsoring a team for this exciting pilot program. The team will be comprised of two plumbers, one design engineer, a CAD artist, and a graphics/web specialist. The U.S. team is being sponsored by the following organizations: International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) Piping Industry Progress & Education Trust Fund (PIPE) SkillsUsa American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) ASPE has agreed to find and financially sponsor a young engineer/designer to be a member of the team. Competitors must not be older than 26 years in the year of WIC This means that a competitor s birthday must be on or after 1st January 1989, and not before.
