1 2018 Program of Work We are a mission-based organization that delivers value to members and investors as we work to drive economic growth as the chief recruitment and retention agency for Charlotte-Mecklenburg, as we advocate a pro-charlotte, pro-business agenda at every level of government, and as we serve as the front door to Charlotte s business community, delivering on the promise to connect, innovate and grow opportunity for all who do business in Charlotte. Program of Work Overall Impact The Charlotte economy outpaces the national and state economies and the Charlotte Chamber plays a significant mission-focused role in driving that outcome.
2 CONNECT Promote ALL IN to drive action and engagement on key initiatives for Charlotte. Represent business community on key issues with ability to impact Charlotte s economy, including leading business community effort to retain the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte Encourage professional and civic engagement through the app with 5,000 volunteer hours captured Engage representatives from non-profits that complement the chamber mission in key networking and input opportunities Launch Access level membership for individuals at no cost with a goal of 500 Access Level members by year-end Actively recruit all levels of jobs through economic development efforts
3 CONNECT Public Policy Through events, committees and communications, keep the business community informed of key legislation. Convene 6 meetings of the Aviation, Land Use and Transportation Committees under Public Policy to address specific issues surrounding infrastructure policy Convene 4 meetings of the Legislative Agenda Task Force Committee and Manufacturers Council to develop a legislative agenda for the chamber and highlight key policy concerns in the manufacturing industry Convene legislative luncheons with key elected officials and agency representatives to gain an inside perspective on key legislative issues
4 CONNECT Engagement Produce high quality, relevant programming and events to drive innovation and connections. Conduct approximately 190 budgeted events and committee and council meetings, engaging relevant speakers and providing chapter specific content, engagement opportunities and networking opportunities Finalize proforma process to ensure events meet mission and revenue objectives before launching (which is to operate above breakeven) Conduct chapter surveys and debriefings to ensure continuous feedback, securing a satisfaction rating of 3.5 out of a possible 4.
5 CONNECT Engagement Promote and support C2 vision for informal gathering of members though Meetups, mentoring and Business Connections component of the new app. Finalize process for conducting Meetups, ensuring chamber brand is protected and promoted consistently Promote Meetup opportunities, including locations, discounts and templates Promote at least 40 successful Meetup events
6 CONNECT Engagement Continue to support chapters to drive mission in deepen engagement in geographic corridors. Manage 12 chapter luncheons and 4 signature events Serve as staff lead at chapter board meetings Provide direction on remaining mission-focused at chapter level Manage board-member nomination process Provide toolkit of services and resources for each chapter board
7 INNOVATE Talent and Workforce Development Conduct professional growth programs and events that drive engagement and relationship-building for diverse talent, including Emerging Business Leaders, Charlotte Chamber Young Professionals, Power of Women and Diversity & Inclusion Roundtable. Conduct seven CCYPs events and one leadership symposium Host six leadership development sessions for EBL/Class 6 and graduate 50+ participants Host three Power of Women sessions and three Meetups Host two invitation-only roundtable meetings with HR, D&I and other business leaders and one general session
8 INNOVATE Talent and Workforce Development Conduct Career Connection initiatives to help promote professions (specifically Information Technology & Accounting) that lead to greater economic opportunity for students. Connect industry speakers with 350 high school and college students Conduct three-four employer site visits for students Hold Diversity in Accounting College career forum for 125 students Establish 70+ mentor-mentee connections
9 INNOVATE Talent and Workforce Development Convene employers, educational institutions and workforce partners from high-career growth industry clusters to close talent gaps and improve economic mobility. Four quarterly meetings Foster partnerships and collaborations through the committee
10 INNOVATE Public Policy Increase collaboration on legislative issues Work collaboratively with the Federation of Chambers in NC to increase collaboration with other urban chambers and strengthen urban/rural relationships Work pro-actively with Charlotte regional chambers and the regional legislative delegation to develop and promote a regional legislative agenda
11 INNOVATE Investment/Brand Promote and expand adoption of the app. Add new features to better serve this broader audience. Develop and implement full marketing plan to target 2,500 downloads Identify components for expansion through focus group and user feedback Engage large employers and board members to reach employee base
12 INNOVATE Economic Growth Innovate process for international recruitment to broaden impact and increase efficiencies. Establish an International Business Development Roundtable to identify and introduce high potential prospects for expansion/relocation to Charlotte Establish a Charlotte based business development roundtable for India to identify and introduce high potential prospects for expansion/relocation to Charlotte

14 GROW Economic Growth Continue to support CRFE through board leadership and partnering on events and initiatives. Implement strategic partnerships with entrepreneurial organizations to provide mentoring/coaching to Charlotte entrepreneurs Implement a virtual portal to align Charlotte s entrepreneurial resources Continue service on CRFE s Board of Directors, and identify new Charlotte Chamber representative(s) to serve on the board Finalize negotiations for physical space to house CRFE
15 GROW Economic Growth Support growth of the middle-market through a series of targeted events. Deliver a pilot effort to identify Charlotte s middle-market companies and how to best support their growth
16 GROW Public Policy Engage region in development and support of expanded Legislative Agenda. Convene 4-6 meetings of the Charlotte Regional Public Policy Alliance (more information regarding the Alliance on your Public Policy handout) to develop a legislative agenda to advocate for policies that affect the entire region
17 GROW Public Policy Lobby at the local, state and federal level for pro-business, pro- Charlotte policy. Pro-active lobbying during 2018 legislative short session Secure approval of incentives packages for economic development projects from the city and county Secure voter support of city bonds in November
18 GROW Public Policy Rally business community around key issues connected to the success of the Charlotte Region s economy. Continue to lobby the State government to adopt pro-business policies that will spur economic growth in the region Advocacy from the Charlotte Regional Public Policy Alliance on issues that affect the entire region Rally support from the business community for passage of the City Bond referendum in November
19 GROW Public Policy Represent chamber member interest, where appropriate, on policy issues. Engage the chairs of public policy from each of our Chapters and members of our Public Policy committees to get suggestions on policy concerns and then determine recommendations on our strategy to advocate for those concerns Engage our entire membership on broader policy concerns through surveys to get feedback on their positions and evaluate if appropriate for us to advocate on a specific policy position
20 INTERNAL Executive Continue to support efforts to drive greater collaboration between the chamber and the Charlotte Regional Partnership and implement leadership vision. Support Center for Intentional Leadership effort Maintain tracking of Strategic Plan goals Staff Advantage Carolina
21 INTERNAL Investment Expand market through outreach to prospects utilizing staffsupported peer-to-peer and leadership relationships. Conduct at least six Investor Champion dinners Support Peer-to-Peer investment effort, recruiting at least 10 volunteers to make 100 connections with minimum of 10 new investors Utilize CEO to target 20 prospective investor-level members to engage at $5,000 or above Utilize CEO to provide outreach to top 50 investors in conjunction with IRM
22 INTERNAL Investment/Core Conduct accurate forecasting of revenue and expenses. Through IRM process, connect with top 80% of investors to ascertain future commitment by October 2018 Hold monthly finance meeting to review aging, monitor revenue performance, expense management and project runways Maintain, produce and distribute a monthly dashboard to volunteer leadership and staff
23 INTERNAL Brand Create strong messaging to communicate to a larger prospective market and to highlight and celebrate investors in the mission. Create and implement an overall communication and marketing plan to reach new audiences through communications, social media, video, presentations and grassroots efforts Proactively share the chamber message with media outlets
