3 Overview The ParticipACTION 150 Play List is a national program designed to encourage all Canadians to sit less and move more. In celebration of Canada s 150th birthday, we ve created the ultimate list of physical activities that define us as Canadian. Individuals can participate by challenging themselves to complete them all in 2017 and earn chances to win some amazing prizes, along the way. The ParticipACTION 150 Play List is a collaborative effort supported by the Government of Canada, premier corporate partners Manulife, Chevrolet and Shaw, the Government of B.C., the Government of Newfoundland & Labrador and national media partner Corus. ParticipACTION has developed a micro-granting program, administered by viasport, that will support not for profit community organizations, schools and municipalities who are planning to deliver 150 Play List programs and events in The programs or events should be inclusive, open to all free of charge, or at a minimal cost, and give the participants the opportunity to complete one or more of the physical activities on the 150 Play List. Micro grants range from $300 to $1,000 and can support qualified instructors, equipment, marketing and promotion and other costs that will make the program or event even more impactful. Examples of eligible on-going programs (at least 4 weeks) and events include: weekly try-it sessions, multi-sport or multi-activity programs, open-houses, tournaments, mayor s challenges, try-it days, neighborhood fun runs, or multi-organizational events. All applicants and final funding selections will be informed of the funding decision by approximately 1 month after the application deadline. 100% of the funds will be distributed in one payment. Timing There will be 3 granting cycles. Applications are accepted until 11:59pm PST on February 8, April 24, August 21 (pending remaining funds). Eligibility Applications may be submitted individually or in partnership, by: Community not-for-profit organizations and associations that directly deliver organized physical activity and sport programs in their community inclusive of cultural and newcomer groups, groups representing people with a disability and women and girls Municipalities Aboriginal bands and community associations Provincial Sport Organizations 3

4 ParticipACTION 150 Play List Program and Event Guidelines: Programs and events must be held by December 2, 2017 and must provide the public with an opportunity to experience one or more activities from the ParticipACTION 150 Play List Only one event application per organization will be accepted per grant cycle. Events must focus on attracting new participants who are not already actively involved in the specific physical activity or sport(s) being offered For ideas, check out the program and event manual. Application and Criteria Assessment Applications will be assessed according to the following criteria: Financial need what additional value could the funding provide to your event that otherwise would not be possible? Potential for the event to provide the public with an opportunity to participate in one or more of the activities on the ParticipACTION 150 Play List. Reach of the program or event for the size of the community The use of qualified instructors or coaches (e.g. NCCP, High Five, Physical Literacy 101, 201 or 301 or other recognized certification). Ability of the program or event to connect individuals with the ParticipACTION 150 Play List and encourage registration and tracking of their physical activity participation on Consideration is given to the geographic distribution of funds throughout the various regions of Canada and to programs or events that are inclusive of the diversity of Canada and accessible for people of all abilities. Selection Committee Eligible applications will be evaluated by a review panel consisting of ParticipACTION staff and partners in physical activity, sport and recreation. The panel bases its recommendations on the eligibility and assessment criteria described in these guidelines, within the context of the applicant's organizational, community and regional needs. 4

5 Conditions and Limitations The ParticipACTION 150 Play List must be acknowledged on all materials related to the funded event. The community program and event toolkit can be found HERE and includes logos and guidelines, promotional materials, social media tools and a program and event hosting manual. Successful applicants will also be required to register their program or event here and complete a post program or event online survey. The survey should outline their use of the funds and the outcomes of their program or event and be completed within one month of the end date. A link to this survey will be ed to the event organizer. Amalgamated results and outcomes may be shared and made public by ParticipACTION. Expenses must be directly related to costs incurred for delivering a physical activity or sport participation experience (i.e. sporting equipment, coaching/trainer expenses, etc.). The ParticipACTION 150 Play list cannot assist expenses solely related to entertainment purposes (refreshments, performance fees), events not open to the general public, capital expenditures (renovation, construction, computer equipment), deficits incurred from past activities, prizes or awards, re-granting programs, competitions, or expenses incurred prior to funding support issued.
