3 Strategic Plan - background St. Catharines City Council developed and approved a Strategic Plan, for the first time, in 2015 The Plan established a vision for the City, as well as 11 goals and more than 40 action items to achieve those goals The goals align with the four pillars of sustainability: economic, social, environmental and cultural

4 Strategic Plan Economic Pillar The City encourages public funding, private investment, business retention and expansion to support continued prosperity in the future. We need to be innovative in our approach and continue to demonstrate our leadership in the knowledge and creativebased economy.

5 Strategic Plan Economic Pillar In particular, this pillar focuses on three upper level goals: Attract public and private investment, support local businesses and provide excellent customer service to demonstrate we are open for business; Be an affordable City for all; and Develop partnerships to enhance the economic vitality of the community.

7 Economic Development Focus Aggressive corporate calling program that has seen more than 1,000 corporate visits and client engagements since Tours of St. Catharines of more than 300 investors/prospects, domestic and international delegations, trade and industry representatives, as well as realtor networks since 2015.
