4 IN MEMORI UM JOHN WAYNE NIXON, This issue of the Southern Journal of Agricultural Economics is dedicated to the memory of Dr. John Wayne Nixon who was its Editor from January 1975 until his death on August 11, His dedication to the Southern Agricultural Economics Association, the Journal and the Agricultural Economics profession shall remain an inspiration to those who would follow his example. Dr. Nixon was a native of Mount Airy, North Carolina, attended LeesMcRae Junior College and received his B.S. degree from Berea College in Kentucky. He earned his M.S. degree from North Carolina State University and the Ph.D. degree from Michigan State University. In 1968 he was appointed to the Agricultural Economics faculty at the University of Georgia. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, son David and daughter Melanie of Athens. Those whose lives he touched share the grief of our loss and realize the endurance of his warm friendship and exceptional professional contributions.
