After finishing second at the ACC Championships behind Virginia Tech, the University of Pittsburgh wrestling team heads to Oklahoma City for the 2014 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships from March For the third time in the last four seasons, Pitt will send eight wrestlers to nationals after six Panthers qualified automatically thanks to their ACC finishes and two others -- Shelton Mack and Nick Bonaccorsi -- received at-large bids. With several Panthers aiming to compete for individual national titles and spots on the podium as an All-American, Pitt will look to better its 15th place team finishes from the last two NCAA Championships. Scouting Pitt... Pitt will send the following eight wrestlers to the NCAA Championships: 125: No. 15 Anthony Zanetta, redshirt senior, : Shelton Mack, senior, : No. 14 Edgar Bright, freshman, : Mikey Racciato, freshman, : No. 7 Tyler Wilps, redshirt junior, : No. 4 Max Thomusseit, redshirt junior, : Nick Bonaccorsi, redshirt sophomore, HWT: P.J. Tasser, redshirt senior, 17-9 The Panthers own plenty of experience, with six of the eight Pitt wrestlers travelling to OKC having been to nationals before at least once. Freshmen Edgar Bright and Mikey Racciato are the only Panthers that will be making their NCAA Championships debut. Peters First Postseason... Following the retirement of long-time head coach Rande Stottlemyer, Coach Jason Peters is in his first postseason as Pitt wrestling head coach. This weekend, Coach Peters hopes his Panthers can add to the 16 National Champions and 74 All-Americans in the storied history of Pitt wrestling.
