2 November 18, 1994 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: EIU STUDENTS PLEDGE CHARLESTON -- Forty-two students have pledged Sigma Kappa sorority at Eastern Illinois University. Sigma Kappa is one of the oldest national sororities with 120 active chapters and 91,000 members. Its philanthropies include gerontology, Alzheimer's disease research, the Main Sea Coast Mission and Inherit the Earth. Eastern, which is celebrating its 1 OOth anniversary in , is a comprehensive university with more than 10,500 students and 46 undergraduate and 27 graduate degree programs. It is a teaching institution which prides itself on the quality and affordability of its undergraduate program.
