2 Welcome To Rose Hill! Our Community: Rose Hill is a fast-growing community of approximately 3,931 residents as of We are situated in the southwestern corner of Butler County and a quick 15 minute drive to east Wichita. The atmosphere is friendly and boasts a high level of commitment and volunteerism from its residents. School System: Out City is extremely proud of its school system, USD #394. Our 4-A school district serves more than 1,800 students in South Central Kansas. A school bond issue was passed in 2004 for a new K-5 facility and improvements to the Middle and High Schools. The Rose Hill school system has an excellent reputation and receives great community and parental support. The School District Central Office is located at 104 N. Rose Hill Road and their phone number is Community College: Butler Community College has a Rose Hill facility adjacent to the Rose Hill High School at 506 S. Rose Hill Road. This facility provides college credit courses; for more information contact them at City Hall: The City Hall and Police Department Facility is located at 125 W. Rosewood. This facility houses the administrative, building/zoning/planning, water, and police departments. The office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 4:30 pm. 3 City Council and Planning Commission Meetings Residents of Rose Hill are invited to attend the City Council and Planning Commission Meetings. The City Council meets on the 1 st and 3 rd Monday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Rose Hill City Hall, 125 W. Rosewood. 6 For Your Information Animal Control: The City of Rose Hill does have an ordinance prohibiting dogs and cats from running at large. All dogs must be registered with the City. Registration is due by the last day of February of each year. To register your dog or cat, please bring written proof of a current rabies vaccination from a licensed veterinarian, along with proof of spaying or neutering, to the Police Department at City Hall or at the Rose Hill Veterinary Office. Registration fees for spayed or neutered animals is $5.00; $10.00 for non-neutered (both are prorated during the course of the year). A $5.00 late fee will be added for those who fail to re-register their pet by the due date (last day of February). New residents are given 30 days to register their pet with the City at the Rose Hill Police Department. Garage Sales: Garage Sale permits are required in the City of Rose Hill. Each address is allowed two garage sales per year, at least 30 days apart. The cost is $3.00 for one, two or three day sales. Two signs are allowed at the sale location, with two allowed on other property with the owner s permission. Swimming Pools: Please check with the City regarding permit requirements for all swimming pools. Zoning and Building Questions: Please contact City Hall with any questions you have regarding zoning and building. Permits are required on most home projects. Water / Sewer Department Payment Options: Ask us for details on any of our payment options. Policy Agreements and Reservation Forms are available at City Hall. Messages are to announce activities of the above specified organizations on a first come, first served basis. 7 Recycling Information The Butler County Recycling Program is providing rural communities in Butler County an easier and more convenient way to recycle. Single Stream Recycling is located at the Rose Hill Resource Management Facility. Single Stream Recycling: Location: SW 160 th, Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm & Saturday 8:30 am to 11:30 am Butler County Landfill: You may also contact the Butler County Landfill regarding waste disposal, fees, and additional recycling information. The landfill is located at 2963 SW 40 th, El Dorado, KS. (One mile west of Haverhill Rd on 40 th ) Contact them with any questions at Rose Hill Green Waste Site Location: SW 160 th, Rose Hill, KS Hours of Operation: Open 6 days a week (closed on Sunday) (March January 15) 8:00 am to Dusk Green Waste ONLY: Tree limbs, grass clippings & shrubs / No Commercial Dumping Allowed Electronic Waste / Household Hazardous Waste Site The Household Hazardous Waste Site is located at 4295 SW Kickapoo, El Dorado, KS The site is open Monday Saturday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
