3 May 2013 PAGE 10 May 2013 MANAGER S NOTES MANAGEMENT DIRECTORS: KEN SCHMIDT AND SUSAN GAY PAGE 3 AMP 1 Plenty of excitement and fun with Tall Tales at camp this year! WHERE: CAT CENTER DAYS: MONDAY - FRIDAY TIME: 9:00 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. SCHEDULE FOR CHILDREN WHO RESIDE IN: LAWNDALE APARTMENTS JUNE 3 - JUNE 14 DIXON APARTMENTS MADISON COURT APARTMENTS JUNE 17 - JUNE 28 8TH STREET APARTMENTS Children: With the weather improving, children are outdoors more. As a result, we have started receiving complaints about some of the children going into other resident s yards. The kids are picking things up and taking them out of the yard, trashing someone else s yard and in general being a nuisance. Parents need to supervise your children and instruct them to stay out of the neighbor s yard unless they have permission. Parents should always know where their children are and what they are doing. Parents will be responsible for the actions and activities of your children. Please talk to your children and explain how to be a good neighbor. Dumpsters: Residents are reminded that only normal household garbage can be placed in the dumpsters. Dumpsters are provided for the use of housing residents only. Non-residents caught using the dumpsters will be prosecuted for illegal dumping. Residents please do not put large items in the dumpsters. Call in a work order and we will pick up items for you. If you are a scrapper (someone who collects/salvages metal for recycling), please do not place your leftovers in the dumpsters. We will not pick your salvage waste up. It is your responsibility to dispose of these items. This means taking the salvage waste to the landfill. Yards: Residents need to ensure your yards are clean and free of trash and debris. You are responsible for the trash in your yard. If we have to clean it up for you, there will be a $25.00 yard clean up fee charged to you. This includes both the front and rear yards. For more information please call the CAT Center at ext Registration Forms Now Available AMP 2: Continued on pg. 9

4 PAGE 4 May 2013 PAGE 9 MAINTENANCE/MODERNIZATION DEPARTMENT 840 North Adams: We are asking residents to please leave a window open in your living room about an 1/2 inch to help reduce the moisture, especially residents living upstairs. Thank you. May Work: Changing out electrical panels at 840 North Adams. Remodeling bathrooms at Lawndale and Dixon. Replacing tile floor as needed throughout the Housing Authority properties. Fire Department: If the Fire Department is called to your apartment, it is your responsibility to immediately contact the Housing Authority by calling the answering service. Contact the Housing Authority by the next business day about any damages or problems that may have occurred in your apartment. Maintenance will need to check the apartment to confirm the apartment is safe and any problems are fixed. Problems: Please do not attempt to repair problems yourself. Please call work orders in immediately! Life Threatening Emergencies: For Life Threatening Emergencies Call 911. MAINTENANCE/MOD DIRECTORS: DAVE WATHEN TROY COX AMP N Adams-We have received several complaints about cans being thrown off balconies and left laying on the ground. This must be stopped immediately! Please do not dig for cans in the dumpster. Please break down boxes before you dispose of them in the dumpster. Please do not leave newspapers and mail in the breezeways. PET POLICY-All Residents: If you are a pet owner it is time for you to re-visit the pet policy. The number one violation and the one we receive complaints about weekly are on Page 4 of the Pet policy: 18. Residents are solely responsible for cleaning up of all pet waste, if any, inside or outside the apartment and on public housing property. Waste must be disposed of by placing the waste in an appropriate container and then disposed of in the dumpster. Section 22 states: When a resident signs the pet registration form, the resident acknowledges and agrees to abide by the rules and regulations of the pet policy. Section 22-E states: Residents are expected to follow all of the rules and regulations regarding having a household pet. The resident must be capable of providing proper care of their pet. Should a resident fail to meet or comply with the pet policy, the resident will be subject to the following: First Violation-Verbal Warning Second Violation-Written Warning Third Violation-Charged a $50.00 Pet Violation Fee Fourth Violation-Resident Required to remove pet from premises Most complaints received are pets not on leashes and residents not picking up after pet. (6) No animals shall be permitted to roam freely outdoors. When the pet is taken outside, the pet must be on a leash and under the direct control of the owner. The pet must be kept off other resident s lawns. An unleashed, or one tied to a fixed object, is not considered to be under the control of an adult.

Long ago people in England honored their mothers on a day called "Mothering Sunday." The special flower for the day is a carnation. Anna M. Jarvis ( ) was the founder of Mother's Day in the United States. It was her own mother's idea, and Anna carried it out. President Wilson proclaimed Mother's Day to be on the second Sunday in May. We take this day to honor good mothers everywhere, and to bring families together.
