These scholarships recognise excellence and potential across a range of areas of importance in our school. All scholarships, except for the REAL scholarships, are made on the basis of open applications. All scholarships carry clear expectations of involvement and achievement and are all subject to annual review. This booklet provides details of the various scholarships available and the application procedure. General Procedures All scholarships will be advertised from the beginning of Term 3 in the year prior to the scholarship commencing. Scholarship applications can be lodged from this point in time until the end of Week 3, Term 4 of the same year. Written notification of results will be sent to all applicants by the end of Week 8, Term 4. Internal scholarship candidates (those who are already enrolled at Redbank Plains State High School) may only lodge applications in Weeks 1 3 of Term 4. All short-listed scholarship applicants will be asked to attend an interview with a member (or members) of staff during Term 4. This could include our Principal and/or Deputy Principal. This interview allows the candidate the opportunity to discuss and/or demonstrate their strengths and to talk about their enthusiasms. We hope very much that they find the experience enjoyable. If the candidate currently attends another school, Redbank Plains State High School will seek references from the candidate s present school and it is therefore essential that the candidate s current Principal and classroom teacher be informed of the intention to apply for a scholarship. Scholarship application forms will be available for download on the first day of Term 3 from the school website and may also be obtained from the school office. Applications must be a signed hard copy and may not be submitted electronically. Scholarships are valid for one full school year. Extension of scholarships for multiple years will be at the school s discretion. 7
