KEY TASKS EXPECTED OUTCOMES Provides Professional leadership and expertise Leads PDRP processes and supports nurses in developing their portfolios Supports the integration of current best practice and innovation into nursing practice Contributes to the professional development of nursing across the DHB Facilitates and provides support and advice in regard to nursing career development Provides informal and formal supervision (clinical/professional) Maintains a current knowledge of all post graduate programmes which meet service strategic objectives Provides support for nurses undergoing post graduate study Clinical leadership Uses a range of clinical indicator data to identify practice improvements Identifies, supports and leads practice change Advocates for and supports improved clinical outcomes Is proactive in identifying nursing related issues, effectively addresses or escalates these issues when indicated. PERSON SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE: Minimum Preferred Qualification Registered Nurse Current Annual Practising Certificate Level 4 professional development and recognition programme, or equivalent Post graduate qualification with a nursing focus Membership of a professional Nursing body Post graduate qualification with a leadership focus Experience Five years nursing experience in the mental health and addictions sector Demonstrated leadership skill Seven years mental health and addictions nursing experience Experience in mental health and addictions nursing leadership Skills/Knowledge/Behaviour Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and bi-cultural issues in health service delivery Understanding of informed consent issues, trauma informed care and consumer rights Knowledge of Health Practitioners Competency Act 2003 and the Nursing Council of New Zealand and codes and standards Understanding of legislation pertaining to mental health Knowledge of Mental Health and Alcohol and Drug Services.
