OFCCP MISSION To enforce for the benefit of job seekers and wage earners, the contractual promise of affirmative action and equal employment opportunity required of those who do business with the Federal Government.
Three Legal Authorities 1. Executive Order 11246, as amended 2. Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 503), as amended 3. Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974 (VEVRAA), as amended Federal contractors are required to: Provide equal employment opportunity on the basis of National Origin, Race, Color, Sex, Religion, Disability, Protected Veteran Status Take affirmative action to promote opportunities for women, minorities, people with disabilities, and protected veterans 4
INAERP MISSION To provide vigorous enforcement of the employment rights for American Indian and Alaska Native workers and job seekers on or near their historically underserved communities. 5

41 CFR 60-1.5(a) (7) Work on or Near Indian Reservations It is not a violation of the equal employment opportunity clause for contractors to extend a publicly announced preference in employment to Indians living on or near an Indian reservation. Near is defined as the area where a person seeking employment could reasonably be expected to commute to and from work in the course of a day. Contractors extending Indian preference shall not discriminate on the basis of religion, sex, or tribal affiliation. Using Indian preference shall not excuse the contractor from complying with other requirements of the Chapter 60 regulations. 7
