Enloe Foundation Scholarship Program Descriptions and Requirements 2018 Butte County EMS Symposium Scholarship Butte County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) created this scholarship in 2016 in memory of Dr. Terrance Fraters with funds raised during the Butte County EMS Symposium. It is designed to encourage and enhance the educational advancement of emergency medical technicians and paramedics. Employees and volunteers for Butte County EMS and Westside Ambulance are encouraged to apply. Two (2) two hundred and fifty dollar ($250) scholarships may be distributed once a year from the Butte County Emergency Medical Services Symposium Scholarship Fund. Allocation is to be used to fund continuing education at a conference, educational institution, or on-line seminar. Applicants must be current EMT or paramedic employees or volunteers in good standing at Butte County EMS or Westside Ambulance. Must be in good standing with state license or certification. One award per applicant every 5 years. Recipients may be asked to submit a report and/or speak about their educational experience. Enloe Foundation scholarship application, written cover letter, proof of enrollment and 3.0 GPA; or documentation of the type of training funds will be used towards. Letter of recommendation from your direct supervisor is required.
Enloe Employee Scholarship Established in October of 2008, the Enloe Employee Scholarship is for Enloe employees pursuing continuing education in their chosen field. Up to four (4) five hundred dollar ($500) scholarships may be distributed each year from the Enloe Employee Scholarship Fund. Allocation is to be used for any Enloe employee to fund continuing education related to employment at Enloe at a conference, educational institution, or on-line seminar. Enloe Golf Tournament Nursing Scholarship The Enloe Foundation Golf Tournament Committee created this scholarship in 1999, designed to encourage and enhance the educational advancement of our nursing staff. Current nursing staff pursuing further education, along with any Enloe employees who are pursuing a degree in nursing, are encouraged to apply. Two (2) two thousand dollar ($2,000) scholarships may be distributed each year from the Enloe Golf Tournament Nursing Scholarship fund. Allocation is to be used for employees actively pursuing a nursing career. Applicants must be current employees in good standing at Enloe Medical Center, and actively pursuing nursing education. Enloe Foundation scholarship application and documentation of the type of nursing education funds will be used towards is required. Letter of recommendation by supervisor is required.
Enloe Women s Services Scholarship Established in July 2017, the Women's Services Scholarship was created to financially support staff to further their academic education through enrollment in training, licensing, conferences and continuing education. One (1) five hundred dollar ($500) scholarship may be distributed once a year from the Enloe Women s Services Scholarship Fund. Allocation is to be used to further academic education through enrollment in training, licensing, conferences and continuing education. Applicants must be current employees in good standing at Enloe Medical Center working in a Women s Services clinic(s). Recipients may be asked to submit a report and/or speak about their educational experience. Enloe Foundation scholarship application, written cover letter, proof of enrollment and 2.5 GPA; or documentation of the type of licensing, training or conference funds will be used towards. Letter of recommendation from your direct supervisor is required.
Herb and Sue Henderson Continuing Nursing Education Scholarship Herb and Sue Henderson were both critical care nurses before Herb went back to school and became an anesthesiologist and Sue became a Nurse Practitioner. They both understand the importance of continuing education in order to stay up to date with best practices. Sue especially feels the need to give back to the NTSICU nurses at Enloe Medical Center as she was the nurse manager of this unit for three years and was impressed with the compassion and clinical expertise of this group of professionals. This scholarship is to financially support nurses who wish to attend a continuing education seminar or conference to update their knowledge and then bring this knowledge back to the unit where they work. Fund Allocation Two (2) one thousand dollar ($1,000) scholarships may be distributed once a year from the Herb and Sue Henderson Continuing Nursing Education Scholarship. Allocation is to be used to defer costs associated with attending a national nursing continuing education conference. Eligibility Applicants must be current full-time or part-time nurses employed in the NTSICU for at least one year in good standing (no written counselings or suspensions in the past 12 months). Applicants from the NTSICU will be considered primarily. Lacking qualified applicants from the NTSICU, nurses from the ICU/CCU will be considered secondarily. If qualified applicants from these programs are not identified, the scholarship(s) may go un-awarded for the year. Recipient Responsibilities Recipient(s) are required to give one presentation on a nursing best practice topic to the NTSICU staff. This may be done at a staff meeting, Neuro teaching rounds, Trauma teaching rounds or a symposium held at Enloe Medical Center. The manager of the NTSICU will work with the applicant on arranging this presentation. Application Requirements Enloe Foundation scholarship application with attached continuing education registration form and letter of recommendation from unit manager or a unit designated charge nurse is required. Janis Kay Anderson Graduate Nursing Scholarship Janis Kay Anderson always dreamed of becoming a nurse. In elementary school, she read all the Sue Barton Student Nurse books. Janis graduated from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. Her nursing career was from 1975 to 1996 in the ICU/CCU of Chico Community Hospital and Enloe Medical Center. Janis, a skilled and compassionate clinician, was a charge nurse and eventually became a S.W.A.T. nurse. Well respected and known for her calm leadership, wide smile and professional skills, Janis s love of nursing gently lifted the hearts of her patients and her fellow nurses. Established in Janis s memory by her husband Brian Anderson, this scholarship is to financially support nurses that have a similar passion and skills in nursing that Janis displayed. One (1) fifteen hundred dollar ($1,500) scholarship may be distributed once a year from the Janis Kay Anderson Graduate Nursing Scholarship Fund. Allocation is to be used for graduate level programs at or through an accredited graduate nursing institution. Applicants must be current employees in good standing at Enloe Medical Center. Must be accepted or enrolled into the Master of Science in Nursing Program at CSU, Chico or other eligible nursing educational institution. Recipient is required to give one presentation on the nursing profession to the Butte County Juvenile Hall or local Boys and Girls Club. The recipient can also simply share a cup of coffee with the sponsorship sponsor Brian Anderson, who can help arrange a presentation noted above if the recipient is so inclined. Men s Associates Enloe Medical Center Employee Scholarship The Enloe Men s Associates was created in 1966 predating even Enloe Hospital as a private notfor-profit organization. The purpose of the Men s Associates was to support and promote the programs of Enloe Medical Center through education, advocacy, fund raising and service. For the last 41 years, they have conducted their mission with dignity and pride having a significant impact on Enloe Medical Center and the community. As of July 1, 2007, the Men s Associates will be merged into the Enloe Partners support group and cease to exist. To honor the legacy of this cherished group of supporters and volunteers, the Men s Associates Enloe Medical Center Employee Scholarship Fund was created out of their commitment and the balance of the Men s Associates Fund. Two (2) five hundred dollar ($500) scholarships may be distributed each year from the Men s Associates Enloe Medical Center Employee Scholarship Fund. Allocation is to be used for any Enloe employee to fund continuing education related to employment at Enloe at a conference, educational institution, or on-line seminar. Nancy and Gary Coelho Surgery Employee Scholarship In 2010, Nancy and Gary Coelho established the Nancy and Gary Coelho Surgery Employee Scholarship Fund. This scholarship is reflective of a broadly based interest in hospitals by the family that is focused within this scholarship on enhancing and encouraging educational advancement of hospital based surgical staff. Nancy is a current employee of the Surgery Department at Enloe Medical Center and Gary is recently retired from Tri-Counties Bank. Fund Allocation Four (4) five hundred dollar ($500) scholarships may be distributed once a year from the Nancy and Gary Coelho Surgery Employee Scholarship Fund. Allocation is to be used to fund continuing education at an accredited education institution to advance the employee towards a 2- year or 4-year degree. Applicants must be an employee in good standing currently employed within Enloe s Surgical Services Department. Scholarship disbursement may be used at the California State University, Chico Associated Students bookstore. Eligibility Applicants must be current employees in good standing at Enloe Medical Center and be an employee within Enloe Medical Center s hospital based surgery department. Applicants must also be currently enrolled in an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university. Recipient Responsibilities Application Requirements Enloe Foundation scholarship application and letter of recommendation by direct supervisor is required. EMC Human Resources, Enloe Foundation Scholarship Committee, and a designated member of the Coelho family to determine eligibility for scholarship award.
Peggy Steel Nursing Scholarship A local long-time resident who greatly appreciated the nursing care while a patient at Enloe Medical Center, and who recognizes the vital role that nurses provide in a hospital setting, funded this scholarship program in 2008. It is designed to encourage and enhance the educational opportunities and advancement of our nursing staff. The donor also wishes this scholarship to encourage potential and practicing nurses to stay in the area to pursue their education, and to commit to local professional nursing pursuits. Three (3) one thousand dollar ($1,000) scholarships may be distributed each year from the Peggy Steel Nursing Scholarship. Allocation is to be used for Enloe employees that have a stated desire to stay local pursuing their education and professional nursing career. Applicants must be current employees in good standing at Enloe Medical Center. Enloe Foundation scholarship application is required, along with documentation of the type of nursing education these funds will be used toward. Letter of recommendation by supervisor is required.
Suzette Stueve Memorial Nursing Scholarship Suzette was a RN in the Clinical Informatics Department at Enloe Medical Center. Everyone that knew her remembers her incredible smile and quick wit. Suzette began her journey at Iowa Western Community College and graduated with her RN. She earned her BS in Nursing at a later date. She was such an inspirational person and touched many lives throughout the community and Enloe Medical Center. In honor and memory of Suzette Stueve, a fellow nurse, Diane Woolridge has created the Suzette Stueve Memorial Nursing Scholarship. Fund Allocation One (1) one thousand dollar ($1,000) scholarships may be distributed each year from the Suzette Stueve Memorial Nursing Scholarship. Allocation is to be used for Enloe employees that have a stated desire to stay local pursuing their education and professional nursing career. Eligibility Applicants must be an Enloe employee in good standing that is a nursing student attending a RN program at either CSU, Chico or Butte College. Recipient Responsibilities Enloe Foundation scholarship application is required, along with documentation of the type of nursing education these funds will be used toward. Letter of recommendation by supervisor is required.
