Page: Page 1 of 5 DIVISION LOCATION REPORTS TO BAPTCARE FAMILY SERVICES MOONEE PONDS Integrated Child and Family Services Team Leader PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF DIVISION Baptcare seeks to deliver Christian care to those in need. It employs 1000 people to work together to achieve this and a large number of volunteers who add significant additional value to Baptcare s service delivery. PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION As part of the Family Services team, your role is to work in the Integrated Family Services Program which covers the cities of Brimbank and Moonee Valley. This is a full time position and is dependent on ongoing funding. You will provide long-term (up to 12-months) case management to vulnerable children, young people and their families involved in the Integrated Family Services Program. Vulnerable children, young people and families are likely to be characterised by multiple risk factors and long term chronic needs, at risk of long term involvement in specialist secondary services such as alcohol and drug, mental health, family violence, homelessness services and Child Protection and have cycles of disadvantage and poverty resulting in chronic neglect and cumulative harm. The role of the Integrated Family Services Worker is to undertake assessments of children, parenting strategies for parents to manage the behaviour of children and young people, case work/counselling, liaison with other agencies and linking children, young people and families into their community. This is primarily through outreach to children, young people and families in their own home. The Child FIRST Service is a centralised referral point for the community to access Integrated Family Services. Integrated Family Services works within the Brimbank Melton Alliance with service delivery in Brimbank and Western Alliance (covering Melbourne, Moonee Valley, Maribyrnong, Hobsons Bay and Wyndham) with Service delivery in Moonee Valley. PERSON SPECIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS Essential: Eligibility for Membership of the Australian Social Workers Association, Australian Psychological Society or equivalent. At least 2 year of Case Management Experience with child and families at high risk. A Working for Children Check would be required (copy of receipt or card would need to be sighted). Licence to drive a motor vehicle. Competency in the use of computer software. Page: Page 2 of 5 EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE Essential Knowledge Knowledge of community services/resources available to individuals and families including a familiarity with the child protection and alternative care fields; and Sound knowledge of child development and a working knowledge of therapeutic models including systems, narrative and cognitive - behavioural theories and other relevant models for intervening in complex families. Clinical Experience Prior experience in working with families in the provision of support and skill development; Comprehensive family assessment techniques to assess parent competency, capacity and family functioning skills; Outstanding case management skills and experience working with complex families in their homes, families may be experiencing mental health or drug and alcohol issues and Capacity to act as an advocate for families; Experience in planning and co-ordinating groups is highly desirable; Demonstrated ability to work effectively with families from a range of cultural, socio economic and educational backgrounds in an outreach capacity. Report writing that may be used in court. Presentation Skills Demonstrated ability to communicate with a range of Stakeholders including Colleagues, Team Leaders, Team Manager, Staff of other funded sector agencies, DHS, Program and Service Advisers and BBC staff using a range of written and expressive methods; Demonstrated ability to present information to groups of professionals and families; Outstanding communication skills that enable you to engage with families empathise and assist them to achieve set goals; and Ability to interact effectively and work with infants, children and adolescents within program guidelines. Sanctuary Project provides supported accommodation to male asylum seekers. Collaborating and consulting with agencies seeking accommodation for asylum seekers at risk of homelessness and poverty, the project provides essential supported housing to some of the most marginalised and destitute people in the Victorian community. Community Ministries provides resources, including financial grants, to assist local congregations to engage with disadvantage and identified need in their local communities. Pastoral Care team provides pastoral care support at each of our aged care facilities, family services, and in a growing number of areas in which we provide aged care in the community. The Baptcare Karingal Community Certified Agreement 2009-2012 applies to the majority of employees working in the Karingal (Devonport) Residential Aged Care facility. Reporting Relationships The Integrated Family Services Worker reports to the Team leader but will assist all members of the Integrated Child and Family Services Team as required.
