Date: 20 th September 2013 Job Title : Trainee Anaesthetic Technician Department : Department of Anaesthesia and Peri-Operative Medicine Location : Waitemata DHB Operating theatres at North Shore Hospital, Waitakere Hospital and the Elective Surgical Centre Reporting To : Charge Anaesthetic Technician Manager Direct Reports : N/A Functional Relationships with : Internal Educator, Trainee Anaesthetic Technician Facilitator Department of Anaesthesia, North Shore Hospital Operating Theatre Staff, North Shore Hospital External Representatives from AUT / NZATS/Medical Sciences Council Purpose : To develop an excellent standard of anaesthetic assistance that will ensure positive patient outcomes. To understand and apply supporting theoretical learning to reinforce the best practice of clinical and technical skills KEY TASKS 1. To carry out responsibilities in a professional manner, respecting both the customer and the team s expectations. 2. To provide supervised clinical and technical assistance to the anaesthetists. 3. To assist in the maintenance and monitoring of anaesthetic and ancillary equipment and to provide it in a safe, functional state when required. 4. To participate in educational opportunities provided by WDH B and to assume responsibility for the completion of theoretical component of the training programme. 5.
