We are pleased to offer a wide variety of activities and workshops that are designed to start your educational experience here at UB on the right track. Orientation is your first taste of college life at UB. Participation is required in all orientation programming as it will help you to establish new friendships, meet faculty and staff, ease anxieties and provide an overview of life at the University. You will be held responsible for all of the information provided. This is your official schedule for orientation. Please keep it with you at all times. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Location: ABC Lobby As part of the student body of the University of Bridgeport, you are invited to join other students, faculty, and administrative staff, together with community leaders, in a day of reflection and service. Dr. King wrote: Education without social action is a one-sided value because it has no true power potential. Come prepared for a day of giving back to the community. NEXT STEPS If you are a resident student, please go to your assigned residence hall. If you do not yet have a residence hall assignment, and would like one, please speak with the Office of Residential Life located in the rear of Seeley Hall, to inquire about room availability. (Email: reslife@bridgeport.edu) Check-in for Orientation. Student Center: Friday, January 12. Pick up an orientation packet and Key to UB Student Handbook. Have you submitted your Health Records and proof of inoculation? If not, please visit Health Services (Health Sciences Center, room 119). If you have all documents and believe that you have met your health requirements, email healthservices@bridgeport.edu for confirmation. You may NOT register for classes or move into the residence halls until your Health Records are submitted. Health Services is open 8:30 am to 4:30 p.m. on Monday Friday. All full time and resident students and students enrolled in the Physician Assistant program will be charged health insurance; domestic students who are covered by their parent s insurance can waive the charge by February 14, 2018, by completing the online waiver form and showing proof of coverage by submitting a copy of their insurance card to the Bursar s Office or to the University s Health Insurance provider. Graduate domestic students may apply for student health insurance online. Both the waiver and the online enrollment forms can be accessed through the website: www.chpstudent.com and go to the University of Bridgeport option. After you have registered for classes on Friday, please go to Student Financial Services Office in the Garden Level of Wahlstrom Library to make payment arrangements if you have not yet done so. Payment is due by the first day of classes. UB ID Card and PAL. After you register for classes, get your photo taken for your ID card. Have proof of your class registration with you and stop by the Security Office on Friday, 9 a.m. 3 p.m. to get your photo taken. If this time does not work, you can contact Campus Security at 203-576-4913 and make an appointment to get your ID at another time. If you would like to change your meal plan, you may do so anytime from now until Friday, January 26. No meal plan changes will be made after that point in time. To change your meal plan you must submit a Meal Plan Change Request which can be accessed in the Residence Life section of the Forms Library on the myub Portal. If you are a commuter student and have not yet purchased a meal plan, you may do so at Marina Dining Hall. (Email: diningservices@bridgeport.edu) Get your free UB email account! In order to obtain an UB email account, you must be a registered student. More information is at http://bridgeport.edu/ubnet. All accounts created will take 48 hours to process before being available. Once your account is active, you will be able to access information and services at the myub portal. For Domestic Students Receiving Federal Financial Aid: YES NO q q Have you completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov? q q Have you received a financial aid award package? q q Have you made arrangements to cover any balance not funded by financial aid? q q If you have been selected for verification, have you completed the paperwork? q q Have you completed your Master Promissory Note and Entrance Interview for the Stafford Loan at www.studentloans.gov? q q Have you completed your Master Promissory Note and Entrance Interview for the Perkins Loan at www.signmyloan.com? (only for Perkins Loan recipients) If you have answered NO to any of these questions, please see a representative in the Student Financial Services Office on the Garden Level of the Wahlstrom Library.
