SCHOLARSHIP: Kids Chance of Washington Scholarship http://www.kidschancewa.com/?page_id=12 REQUIREMENTS: Kids Chance of Washington is a need-based scholarship program for the dependent children and spouses of workers killed or seriously disabled in a workplace accident in Washington. This scholarship is available to spouses or children of injured Washington workers whose injury, while at work in Washington State, resulted in a permanent inability to return to work (a pension under the claim) or death. SCHOLARSHIP: American Indian Endowed Scholarship http://www.wsac.wa.gov/american-indian-endowed-scholarship February 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: This program provides educational scholarships on a competitive basis to high-achieving, low-income students who have close social and cultural ties to an American Indian tribe or community. Recipients demonstrate academic merit and a commitment to serve the American Indian community in the state of Washington. There is a priority for upper-division and graduate students. Students can use the scholarships at public colleges and universities and accredited independent colleges, universities, and career schools in Washington. See website for details. SCHOLARSHIP: WSECU Scholarship https://wsecu.org/x1854.xml Opens December 15 th - February 13, 2015 DUE REQUIREMENTS: WSECU is committed to the principles of diversity and awards 20 $2,000 scholarships to full time students who will attend a four-year or graduate school fall term and seven $1,000 scholarships for applicants who will study at a two-year community college or vocational school. Please note that only WSECU members are eligible for this scholarship. Membership in a credit union other than WSECU does not meet eligibility requirements. See website for details. SCHOLARSHIP: 2015 ACPE Scholarships, Association of https://sites.google.com/a/acpenw.org/acpenw-org/scholarships/2015-scholarship-application February 15, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: This year the Association of Computer Professionals in Education (ACPE) has allocated up to $10,000 for scholarships of up to $2,500 each for students in Oregon and Washington. These scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors who have been actively involved in the use of technology during their high school careers and are planning to pursue studies in a technology related field. In order to qualify, you must meet the following criteria: currently a senior at an Oregon or Washington K 12 public or private educational institution; has demonstrated high interest and innovative use of technology during high school career; has demonstrated some community/school involvement, preference of technology focus; plans to pursue studies in a technology related field to obtain the minimum of a two-year degree; has created a simple web site to provide a description of the technology project and links to evidence for that project. SCHOLARSHIP: The Nellie Martin Carman Scholarship February 17 th, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: Application forms are only available for graduating seniors from public high schools in King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties in Washington state. Lake Stevens HS can nominate only 2 (two) students each year. Awards range from $500 to $2,000 a year, and scholarships are renewable for four years of college in the state of Washington. Eligibility for first time applicants, must be: a graduate of a public high school in King, Pierce, or Snohomish counties in the year of appointment; be an American citizen; plan to attend a college or university in the state of Washington full time. SCHOLARSHIP: Buick Achievers Scholarship Program https://buickachievers.scholarshipamerica.org/ February 27, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: Applicants to the Buick Achievers Scholarship Program must: be high school seniors, high school graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduate students; plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university based in the U.S. or Puerto Rico for the entire 2015-16 academic year. Proprietary and online schools are not eligible; plan to major in a course of study that focuses on Engineering/Technology or select Design and Business related programs of study. See the list of eligible majors. Demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in the automotive or related industries using these areas of study. Be U.S. citizens and have permanent residence in the United States or Puerto Rico. The majority of the scholarships will be awarded to students majoring in Engineering/Techology Fields. See application for details SCHOLARSHIP: Hawkins Memorial Scholarship March 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: The purpose of this scholarship is to honor and to give financial support to graduating seniors currently enrolled at Lake Stevens High School who are pursuing a course of study in life sciences, medicine or pharmacy. Preference will be given to students attending the University of Washington. See website for details. SCHOLARSHIP: Bobbi McCallum Memorial Scholarship March 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: The scholarship was established in 1970 by the late Dr. Walter Scott Brown in memory of Bobbi McCallum, a prizewinning Seattle Post-Intelligencer reporter and columnist. The scholarship is given on the basis of talent, need and the motivation to pursue a career in journalism, communications and/or media. See website for details. SCHOLARSHIP: Lambeth Family Scholarship March 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: The purpose of the Lambeth Family Scholarship is to honor and to give financial support to a deserving student pursuing a degree in engineering, natural sciences, mathematics, computer science or business. SCHOLARSHIP: Joan Hill Scholarship March 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: We offer The Joan Hill Scholarship to honor Joan and her ongoing support and encouragement of others. Preference will be given to those students who have been displaced from their home and who have overcome hardship. See website for details. SCHOLARSHIP: Reita Cruze Scholarship March 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: The purpose of the Reita Cruze Scholarship is to honor and give financial support to deserving high school seniors. A $3,000 scholarship will be awarded to students pursuing a career in the business world and who have been accepted at one of the four universities listed here: Seattle University, University of Washington, Washington State University, Western Washington University. Applicants must be the son or daughter of a Boeing employee who is on the active payroll and has been with Boeing for a minimum of ten years. See website for details. SCHOLARSHIP: Doug Struthers Memorial Scholarship March 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: The purpose of the Doug Struthers Memorial Scholarship is to applaud all students who are performing to their highest capabilities Doug had a special gift of working with children. In spite of kidney failure and numerous medical setbacks, he found a way to connect with his students. Through hard work, commitment and perseverance, he made a difference at school and in the community. it is in this spirit that a scholarship fund was created in his memory to help young people learn skills to serve their communities. Special consideration will be given to students who have overcome an obstacle or have a disability. See website for details. SCHOLARSHIP: Edward W. Stimpson Scholarship March 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: This scholarship was established in 2013 in honor of Ambassador Edward W. Stimpson, who was a native of Bellingham, Washington who attended Harvard College and received his Masters of Public Administration at the University of Washington. The award is intended to support students from Washington state who are pursuing their college education at the University of Washington or Western Washington University. See website for details. Eligibility: Only high school seniors enrolled in a Washington State public or private high school, as well as those who are home-schooled and reside in Washington State, are eligible to enter. The Student Information/Release Form must be included which provides student and school information, parent permission and statement of originality from student and a teacher/advisor. SCHOLARSHIP: ANDEO College Scholarship www.andeo.org/scholarship March 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: The ANDEO College Scholarship benefits OR and WA students who have demonstrated commitment to promoting intercultural understanding and friendship. Graduating seniors who have recently hosted an exchange student through ANDEO, studied a world language for at least 3 years, and maintained a 3.5 GPA are eligible to compete for the $1000 and $500 awards. SCHOLARSHIP: Young Women in Public Affairs or http://www.zonta.org/whatwedo/internationalprograms/youngwomeninpublicaffairsawards.aspx March 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: This scholarship recognizes young women for their demonstrated leadership skills and commitment to leadership in public policy, government and volunteer organizations. Applicants must be 16 to 19 years old and living or studying in a Zonta district. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of experience in local or student government, knowledge of Zonta International and its programs, and advocate on behalf of Zonta International s mission to advance the status of women worldwide. SCHOLARSHIP: 2015 Washington State Opportunity Scholarship http://www.waopportunityscholarship.org/ March 2, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS) supports low- and middle-income students pursuing eligible high-demand majors in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) or health care and encourages recipients to work in Washington state once they complete their degrees. Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria: Must be a Washington state resident; Must have earned a high school diploma or GED from a Washington State high school or institution by June 2015; Must be pursuing an eligible high-demand major (by alphabet; by category) in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) or health care; Must be working toward a first bachelor s degree, (i.e. four-year degree); Must be enrolling in an eligible Washington state college or university fall term 2015; Must be a high school senior, or a college freshman or sophomore at the time of application; must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) through fall quarter or semester 2014 of at least 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale). SCHOLARSHIP: The Washington State Elks Association Vocational Grant Program www.waelks.net March 6, 2014 REQUIREMENTS: Any graduating Senior High School student and/or General Education student, who is a U.S. Citizen is eligible, receiving a diploma or certificate during the current program year and planning to pursue an eligible Vocational/Technical Course, above and supplemental to High School or Preparatory School, may apply. SCHOLARSHIP: Merle Kirkley Scholarship March 9, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: The $2,000 Merle Kirkley Merit Scholarship Award is a competitive merit-based scholarship program designed to provide financial support for Washington State high school students planning to obtain a post-secondary education. Applicants must demonstrate that their intent is to major or obtain a certificate in a field relating to educational facility planning and design. Fields related to educational facility design include (but are not limited to) school planning, architecture, engineering, product services and construction management. See website for details. SCHOLARSHIP: Ewing C. Kelly Scholarship March 10, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: The Ewing C. Kelly Scholarship is designed to reward students who demonstrate good citizenship while striving to attain their academic goals. Applicants will be judged on their academic merit, extra-curricular achievements--both scholastically and in their community--and financial need. Eligibility: 1) Applicant must be accepted, or have an application pending, at an accredited institution of higher learning, public or private and including community colleges; 2) must be a senior-level student at a public or private high school (or home school); 3) must have a composite score of 20 on the ACT or a composite score of 1400 on the SAT if planning to attend a 4-year school; 4) Must be a U.S. citizen or have a green card. SCHOLARSHIP: NW Plus Credit Union Scholarship or March 11, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: NW Plus Credit Union (NWPCU) will award scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year; these will be awarded to graduating high school seniors and post-secondary students. Graduating high school seniors will vie for a maximum of $1,000 per person and post-secondary students will vie for a maximum of $1,000 per person. Eligibility is limited to members who have been a member in good standing for at least 90 days prior to application. If under the age of 18, parent must be a member in good standing for at least 90 days. No family member of a NWPCU employee or volunteer official is eligible. See application or website for details. SCHOLARSHIP: WSAJ Past Presidents Scholarship March 13, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: As part of the Washington State Association for Justice s (WSAJ) commitment to foster an awareness and understanding of the important role that the civil justice system plays in our society, WSAJ sponsors an annual statewide student video scholarship program. For 2015, WSAJ will award two, $2,000 scholarships, one to an essayist and one to a videographer. The video scholarship winner s piece will be posted on WSAJ s Facebook and Twitter accounts, and may be aired on TV. This scholarship is available to high school seniors who are residents attending high school in Washington state. Students need not attend a Washington college, but must start college within the next two years to receive the funds. See application for details.
