Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellows Forum Cambridge, US November -5, 04 The Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future program was launched in 004. Since the program was implemented, the Schlumberger Foundation hosted meetings (Forums) for its Faculty for the Future community of Fellows and Alumni in the United Kingdom (London and Cambridge), in France (Paris and Clamart), in the United States (New York, Cambridge and Houston) and in the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi). These in persons meetings are hosted once or twice a year in areas where the grantees are pursuing their studies. With approximately 0 to 60 grantees in attendance, a Forum provides an opportunity for participants to meet and share research and life experiences, to initiate international collaborations, to learn techniques to spread their research, to meet and network with well-known scientists and personalities who might act as career mentors, and to discuss such things as work/life balance and gender-specific issues. The ultimate goal is to create a community of women leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) who will support the socio-economic development of their native regions by teaching, strengthening the faculties in their home universities, conducting research into relevant local challenges, inspiring other young women to pursue STEM careers, and use their scientific expertise to influence policy making locally and internationally. Amongst Faculty for the Future Fellows and Alumni (405 grantees), 8% attended a Faculty for the Future Forum at least one time. Excluding the 04 new grantees who are newcomers in the program, approximately 50% of the Fellows and Alumni already attended a Forum. The Schlumberger Foundation will host its th Faculty for the Future Forum for the community in Cambridge, MA, United States from November rd to 5 th, 04.
