Esquimalt High School Scholarships 2014 2015 The scholarships and bursaries in this booklet are awarded only to students of Esquimalt High School. The booklet is intended to provide students, parents and teachers with information on the criteria for awards and the methods of applying for them. Please do not contact organizations directly. Every effort has been made to ensure that the information contained in this publication is accurate, however, changes may occur. These scholarships are awarded in the fall after graduation.

First preference given to a student going on to the construction trades electrical, plumbing, carpentry or sheet metal. A portfolio ESQUIMALT HIGH SCHOOL, PAT BOHAKER S GOOD CITIZENSHIP AWARD This scholarship honours Mrs. Bohaker s career as a teacher and counsellor at Esquimalt High School and in particular, her years and years of scholarship dedication. Value: $500 (or 2 at $250) Commitment, compassion, and advocacy ESQUIMALT HIGH SCHOOL PAC SCHOLARSHIP "Unsung Heroes" Esquimalt P.A.C. Value: 1 x $400 1. Must be a graduating student. 2. Must be a student who has a positive attitude about school. 3. Must be a student who puts forth a good effort e.g. (Super G Club) 4. Must be a student who has good attendance. (Unforeseen circumstances such as illness would be excused.) 5. Must be a student who works hard at achieving their academic potential but is not necessarily an A student.
7 ESQUIMALT HIGH SCHOOL RETIRED STAFF SCHOLARSHIP Value: Esquimalt Retired Staff Three of approximately $300 (the amount may vary from year to year) Any recognized post-secondary institution. The scholarships will be available to academic and non-academic students 1. Commitment to education including focus, attendance and responsibility is essential. 2. The student may hold a government scholarship of $1,000, but may not be in receipt of another major award. ESQUIMALT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT LEADERSHIP AWARDS Value: Esquimalt High School Student Council amount varies Any recognized post-secondary institution 1. Commitment to education including focus, attendance and responsibility is essential. ESQUIMALT KIWANIS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP Esquimalt Kiwanis Club Value: 1 x $1,000 Any recognized post-secondary institution 1. Service to the school, preferably in the area of music 2. Entering a full time course of study, preferably in music
8 ESQUIMALT LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP Esquimalt Lions Club Scholarship Value: 2 x $1,000 Must attend any recognized post-secondary institution as a full time student 1. Student must be of high academic standing (=>B) 2. Student must attend Esquimalt High School. 3. Student must complete the school year. 4. Students must not have won any other scholarship totaling in excess of $5,000. 5. Student has until March 31 st of the year following the Scholarship Award Ceremony to collect the value awarded. 6. Where applicable, the scholarship may be paid to the institution the student wishes to attend. 7. Student must be entering a full time program at post secondary within 6 months of graduating. A full time student is a student enrolled in at least 60 per cent of a fulltime course load (or 40 per cent for students with permanent disabilities), for a period of at least 12 consecutive weeks at a designated educational institution. 8. Preference will be given to residents of Esquimalt and Victoria West. ESQUIMALT SENIORS WRITERS GROUP BURSARY Esquimalt Seniors Writers Group Value: $500 1. A student graduating from Esquimalt High School 2. Must be continuing his/her education at a recognized post secondary institution 3. Preference will be given to students going into the writing field. 4. Student should not have won any other scholarship
