Conferences/ workshops organized Two days workshop on Research Methodology was organized by Faculty of College of Nursing, DMCH from 28 th -29 th January 2011 for M.Sc (N), Post Basic B.Sc(N) & GNM Interns. Workshop on Basic Cardiac Nursing was organized for undergraduate and post graduate nursing students at College of Nursing, DMCH, Ludhiana which was coordinated by Mr. Anurag Bhai Patidar, Lecturer, College of Nursing, DMCH in January 2011. Workshop on World leprosy day was organized for BSc Nursing II year students on 1 st Feb. 2011 at CON, DMCH Ludhiana which was coordinated by Mrs Sandeep Kaur, Lecturer, CON, DMCH Ludhiana. Workshop on Basics of Cardiac Nursing was organized on 4-5 th Feb 2011 for M.Sc. Nursing, GNM Interns and Cardiac diploma students which was coordinated by Mr Anurag Bhai Patidar Lecturer, CON, DMCH, Ludhiana Patient safety management workshop was organized for 109 ward incharges on 8 th and 9 th February 2011 at College of Nursing, DMCH, Ludhiana which was coordinated by Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma, Professor, College of Nursing, DMCH. Workshop was organized on Research Methodology on behalf of T.N.A.I. Punjab State Branch on 4-5 th March, 2011 at College of Nursing Old DMCH, Ludhiana. About 60 teachers of various colleges attended this workshop. A Seminar cum exhibition on World Health Day was organized on 20 th April 2011 in College of Nursing, DMCH by M.Sc(N) students under coordination by Mr. Anurag Bhai, Lecturer, CON, DMCH, World Asthma Day was celebrated on 3 rd May 2011 in Medical OPD, DMCH. Poster exhibition and role play was organized in OPD area by B.Sc. Nursing 2 nd year and M.Sc. Nursing students [Medical Surgical Nursing & Community Health Nursing]. Mrs. Prabhjot Saini, Reader and Mrs. Sandeep Kaur, Lecturer were the event Co-ordinators. World Nurses Day was celebrated on 13 th May 2011 in College of 2

Nursing. Dr. Daljit Singh, Principal, DMCH and Dr. B.S Shah, MS, DMCH inaugurated the programme. Dr. (Mrs.) Jasbir Kaur, Principal, CON,DMCH unfolded the theme. Post Basic B.Sc(N) and M. Sc(N) students were the participants. World Hypertension Day was celebrated on 17 th May 2011 in Medical OPD, DMCH. Poster exhibition and role play was organized in OPD area by B.Sc. Nursing 3 rd year and 2 nd year students respectively. Mrs. Prabhjot Saini, Reader and Mr. Anurag B Patidar, Lecturer were the event Coordinator. World No Tobacco Day was celebrated on 31 th May 2011 in Medical OPD, DMCH. Poster exhibition and smoking dependency screening was organized in OPD area by B.Sc. Nursing 3 rd year Students. Mrs. Prabhjot Saini, Reader and Ms. Kanika Thapar, Lecturer were the event Coordinators. World Stroke Day celebrated and organized on 2 nd November, 2011 in Medical OPD, DMCH. Exhibition and Poster competition was conducted. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Sandeep Saini, Lecturer, and Ms. Ruchika, Asst. Lecturer, College of Nursing, DMCH. World Day for Organ Donation- Gift of Life GLODAS was organized on 05 th November 2011 at GND School, Ludhiana. Poster Competition, Choreography, Poetry recitation and Quiz contest were organized and coordinated by College of Nursing, DMCH for awareness among students of various school and colleges World Diabetes Day celebrated and organized on 14 th November 2011 in Medical OPD, DMCH. Exhibition, Poster competition and role play was conducted. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Prabhjot Saini, Reader, College of Nursing, DMCH. Sh Prem Kumar Gupta, Secretary, Managing Society was the Chief Guest. World COPD Day celebrated and organized on 16 th November 2011 in Medical OPD, DMCH. Exhibition, Poster competition and role play was conducted. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Prabhjot Saini, Reader, College of Nursing, DMCH. Two days workshop on Job responsibilities of Nursing personnel in different areas was organized by Post Basic 2 nd year students under guidance of Mrs. Sandeep Kaur, Lecturer, CON,DMCH. Honors achieved XXIV SNA Conference was organized by TNAI Punjab State at S.G.R.D. College of Nursing, Amritsar. Students won the first prize in Poster competition, personality (girls) and won second prize in personality competition (boys). Third year student of College of Nursing, DMCH was second runner-up in personally girls contest at National SNA XXIV Conference held at Bangalore. Newer techniques/ facilities added Computer Monitors (8) were changed from traditional to LCD monitors in Computer Lab. Visits for academic purposes B.Sc(N) 3 rd Year students posted in IHBAS, New Delhi for Psychiatric nursing experience in the month of January & February 2011. B.Sc (N) 4 th students and Post Basic B.sc(N) 2 nd year students visited Vocational Rehabilitation and training Centre in Ludhiana on 20 th -21 st January 2011 M.Sc(N) 1 st year students visited Community Health Centre, Maachhiwara on 27 th January 2011 M.Sc. Nursing 1 st year students (Child Health Nursing) were posted in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi in January 2011 for one month clinical experience. 3

B.Sc. Nursing 2 nd year students visited CRI Kasauli on 1 st April, 2011. B.Sc. Nursing 2 nd year and Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing 2 nd students visited Water-purification centre, Sector 39 A,, Chandigarh on 18 th -19 th April, 2011. M.Sc. Nursing 1 st year students, visited old age home, village Dad, Ludhiana on 26 th April, 2011. B.Sc. (N) 3 rd year students visited old age home village Dad, Ludhiana on dated 1 st June. M.Sc. Nursing 1 st year students (Child Health Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing) were posted in Penguine Castle, Play way, at Ludhiana for experience in assessing and identifying health problems in young children in July 2011. M.Sc Nsg 1 st yr students (Obst. and Gynae Nursing and Community health group) were posted at Govt. Multi Speciality Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh for one month for Obst. Experience. Prizes/ awards won/ Honours Achieved Dr. (Mrs.) Jasbir Kaur has been conferred the Fellowship of Indian Society of Psychiatric Nurses in 3 rd International Psychiatric Nursing Conference ISPNIC-2011 at Bhillai on 12 th February 2011. College of Nursing, DMCH, Ludhiana participated in 2 nd Inter College (Nursing and Physiotherapy) Sports and Cultural Meet Beat 2011 held at University College of Nursing, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot from 17 th 19 th March 2011. College of Nursing, DMCH, won 3 rd Best team with 11 points. Total 6 prizes were won in various cultural and sports events: Cultural Events 3 rd prize was bagged in Gidha Competition while Bhangra of DMCH won 2 nd prize, 2 nd prize was won in Rangoli Competition and 2 nd prize in Elocution. Sports Events B.Sc (N) 1 st & 2 nd year students bagged 3 rd prize in Table tennis and Chess competitions. Dr Jasbir Kaur, Principal, CON, DMCH has been selected as member of research degree committee by BFUHS, Faridkot. Dr Jasbir Kaur, Principal, CON, DMCH will represent as executive committee member of TNAI HQ, New Delhi for 4 years. Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Lecturer, College of Nursing, DMCH won third prize in case management competition organized at International Conference on Trauma from Nov. 11 to 13, 2011 at AIIMS, New Delhi. International Papers presented Dr. (Mrs.) Jasbir Kaur presented scientific paper on Complementary and alternative therapies in the management of Psychiatric disorders: Psychiatric Nursing Perspectives in 3 rd International Psychiatric Nursing Conference ISPNIC-2011 at Bhillai on 12 th February 2011. Dr. Suresh K Sharma presented a guest lecturer on Stress Management in a national level workshop for nursing administrators at College of Nursing, CMCH, Ludhiana on 11 th Feb. 2011. Dr. Suresh K. Sharma, Professor, College of Nursing, DMCH presented a scientific research paper on Employment pattern and health profile of Older people in District Ludhiana in the 8 th International Conference on Geriatric care at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar held on 6 th Nov. 2011. Mrs. Prabhjot Saini, Associate Professor and Ms. Parmees Kaur Assist. Lecturer, College of Nursing, DMCH presented a scientific research paper on Lifestyle Modifications and glycemic control in DM type-2 geriatric patients in the 8 th International Conference on Geriatric care at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar held on 6 th Nov. 2011. Mrs. Prabhjot Saini, Associate Professor, College of Nursing, DMCH presented a scientific research paper on Coronary Artery Bypass Graft experience in a tertiary care teaching Hospital at Ludhiana: Effect on Lifestyle, demography, biophysical profile and complications among patients in the Global Conference on Cardiomersion organized by FORTIS, Mohali at J.W Marriot Hotel held from 25-26 th Nov. 2011. National Papers presented Dr. Suresh K Sharma, Professor, College of Nursing, DMCH, delivered guest lecture on Health Care Information Technology and Electronic Health Record in an international conference on nursing informatics on 10-11 th October, 2011 at Eternal University, Baru Sahib (H.P.) Mrs Rupinder Deol, Lecturer, CON, DMCH delivered a guest lecture on Monitoring in Kangaroo Mother Care at National Neonatal Nursing Conference organized by IAP at CON,GTB Hospital, Ludhiana on 18 th November, 2011. She also demonstrated Breast Feeding techniques to the participants in hands on workshop. Dr. Suresh K Sharma & Ms. Ruchika, faculty, College of Nursing, DMCH was awarded for participating as panelist in panel discussion in National Hematology - Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant Conference, organized at Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana on 10. Sept 2011. Dr. Jasbir Kaur delivered a Guest Lecturer on Inter and Intra Team communication in Healthcare in a Workshop organized at ESI Model Hospital, Ludhiana on 27 th 28 th May 2011. Dr Suresh K Sharma delivered a Guest Lecturer on Evaluation: Tools for assessing Teaching-Learning Outcomes in Healthcare Education in National Level Workshop on Competent Educators in Health Sciences: Effective Learning Outcome at University College of Nursing, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot on 27 th May 2011. Dr Suresh K Sharma delivered a Guest Lecturer on Face to Face and Telephonic Communication in Healthcare in a Workshop organized at ESI Model Hospital, Ludhiana on 27 th 28 th May 2011. Special Achievement Dr. Jasbir Kaur is nominated as member for the Board of Studies in Nursing Sciences of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, for a period of one year from 1 st February, 2011 to 31 st January, 2012. TNAI Punjab state election 2011 was held on 24 th March, 2011 at College of Nursing, DMCH, Ludhiana. NRI admissions are in progress for the same. Admissions for M.Sc. Nursing programme has been completed for the year 2011. On the occasion of National Communal Harmony week and National Flag Day, a vibrant cultural event was celebrated by Medical College & Nursing College in Old DMCH Campus on 19.11.2011.Nursing students got prizes in poster contest, declamation contest, Collage and slogan writing. Statement of Research problems for M.Sc. Nursing 1 st year students were finalized after approval of Research committee of College of Nursing, DMCH.
