Faculty Development Programme in Entrepreneurship & Innovation December 21-31, 2016 at Sarvajanik College of Engineering & Technology Supported by National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board Department of Science & Technology, Government of India (NSTEDB) UNDER DST-NIMAT PROJECT Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology Jointly Organizes with Sarvajanik College of Engineering & Technology Rationale Among several initiatives taken at various levels against the backdrop that entrepreneurship can be taught like any other discipline, the recent and a notable one is the establishment of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), by the Union Government of India. The efforts will not just develop entrepreneurial and employability skills among the youth but will also deliver world class Learning and Management System (LMS) to equip potential as well as early stage entrepreneurs. Besides, Government's pan India programmes, viz. 'Startup India', 'Stand-up India', 'Make-in India', 'Digital India', 'Swachha Bharat (Clean India)', aim at further propelling entrepreneurship movement in India. Sculpting its mandate around the mission of nationwide promotion of entrepreneurship, EDC aids the efforts by training faculty members to impart learning in entrepreneurship as well as counsel youths to adopt this discipline as a career. In SCET, Entrepreneur Development Cell aims to "create entrepreneurial culture in SCET to foster growth of innovation and entrepreneurship amongst the students". Since inception in September 2014 under the guidance of Dr. Vaishali Mungurwadi, EDC has organized 19 motivational introductory lectures, 12 guest lectures, 03 industrial visits, 03 workshops and two Entrepreneurship Awareness camp and one Institute visit to motivate the students. EDC has designed the Faculty Development Programme (FDP) module to develop a cadre of trained faculty members involved in teaching entrepreneurship. Objective The programme is designed with an aim to train and develop faculty members in the area of Entrepreneurship Development so that they can act as 'Resource Persons' in guiding and motivating young students, particularly from engineering & technology stream, to take up Entrepreneurship as their career. 2

Under the dynamic leadership of Honourable Principal Madam Dr. Vaishali Mungurwadi, we have witnessed the dynamism of technology from ABSORPTION to ADAPTATION 22

to INNOVATION Civilisation.. to IMPROVISATION. A leap Towards Progressive Friends, I am not eligible to give feedback and talk about Co-ordinators of Faculty Development Programme and their team, but their hard work, dedication and uncompromising pursuit of excellence needs appreciation and felicitation. The Two-Week Marathon FDP in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from December 21st to December 31st 2016at lush green SCET campus supported by National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India under DST-NIMAT Project, SVNIT jointly organized with SCET was resourceful, informative and tech-savvy with the use of pedagogical tools and methodology. The FDP ignited entrepreneurial spirit in the minds of aspiring participants. The Course content was in depth, research-based, advanced. The phenomenal 50 hours of Classroom sessions packed with two wonderful industry visits at STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) -Surat Incubation Facility, Bhestan, Udhna and Goldie Green Technologies, Pipodara, Surat (Manufacturing of Solar Panels) were incredible and magnanimous. To start with the Objective of the FDP by veteran and intellectual giant Dr. Atul Desai, SVNIT was really fascinating. His three golden words quote LEARN, RELEARN and UNLEARN unquote got embossed in the grey-matter of participants. The informative talk by learned and honourable Vice-Chairman II, Sarvajanik Education Society and an astute Entrepreneur Shri Kamlesh Yagnik on Being an Entrepreneur was Out-of-the-box and Out-of-the-cocoon. He sprinkled Excellence and Conviction. We are inspired by your experienced mindset and vision. Thank You respected ShriKamlesh Sir. The resourceful talk by our respected Principal Dr. Vaishali Mungurwadi on Communication Skills interacting with people for better results was fundamental, conceptual and interesting. Thank You Ajmeri Sir. Dr. Jigar Sevalia another Co-ordinator and a wonderful human being always filled with energy, drive and ready to serve all of us. He inspired us to Think Big and his technical cum managerial skills are fantastic. He led all of us to STPI-Surat Incubation Facility our one of 23

the industrial visit of the FDP. He is soft spoken, positive and optimistic person. Thank You Jigar Sir. What I am fascinated about Dr. Ajmeri and Dr. Jigar is their down to earth attitude and simplicity. They are the brains behind this juggernaut brand. Really the hospitality showcased by Dr. Ajmeri, Dr. Jigar, Dr. Shabbir Bohra and Prof. Alpa was awesome.prof. Alpa Shah worked assiduously hard for the FDP and briefed all of us to the learned expert speakers. She managed the entire FDP with a million dollar smile. Thanks Ma am.
