Thanks to the good support from other EXECOM members, students and faculty of various colleges the following activities were carried. IEEE Bangalore section has 42 student branches spread around Karnataka state. More than half of these branches are active and conduct activities quite regularly. The target from section for this year was to enable student branches in the same region to come together and organize events. Also the idea is to conduct Bangalore section events where a cluster of student branches are located and not just limit to Bangalore. Both these goals have been achieved with conducting the flagship student activities of section in cities out of Bangalore and get it conducted by branches together.

Bangalore Section Student Leadership Congress ( NITK Surathkal ) BRV Varadan student paper contest ( SJCE Mysore, PESCE Mandya, NIE Mysore) Technical Colloquium ( GIT, Belgaum) Along with these events, Bangalore section supported student branches in regular tasks of 1. Opening student branches 2. Assisting in membership development 3. Providing financial assistance for one event in a year 4. Participation through Technical expert lectures 5. Dignitaries for Branch functions sharing IEEE learning 6. Financial support for Student Branches to attend the All India Student Congress 2007 New Student Branches Approved in 2007 The following Student Branches were started new this year, with few more in the pipeline pending approval. New Initiatives Online community for closer interactions: In order to bring student branches closer to each other, an initiative of online communities was introduced ( ieee_sa_googlegroups) and this has lead to very good results. The institutes are able to share their problems and issues along with best practices and events. This group is also used to broadcast all information from IEEE Bangalore Section to the institutes. Student Leadership workshop Student leadership congress was successfully and grandly conducted at NITK Surathkal on 12-13 October 2007.
