K Wilson makes a motion to request a Fall 2016 implementation for new curriculum D Griffin seconds - Fall meeting date set for Thursday, October 13, 2016 - Discussion of where to hold meeting and a suggestions is made to alternate between Central Georgia Tech s Macon and Milledgeville campus M Newton makes a motion that, based on availability at each location, Spring meetings of the IFCC will be held in Milledgeville and the Fall meetings will be held in Macon G Clark seconds P Smith continues with agenda items and reminds members that each college was asked to gather opinions from their respective Advisory Committee members about changes proposed for ECCE 2240. In the event significant changes are made to this Internship course, TCSG will be forced to initiate a PROBE which can be a quite lengthy process.

The options (at this time, and which were surveyed with each college, 21 of 22 colleges responded) are: - Keep 12 credit hours at 12 8 colleges chose this option - Have 2 courses, each with 6 credit hours 3 colleges chose this option - Reduce the credit hours to 6 or 9 8 colleges chose this option - No preference 2 colleges chose this option Q and A/ Discussion Followed: K Day would we need the PROBE if we kept the 12 credits but lowered the number of lab hours? B Moore 12 credits equals 540/ 50 minute hours/16 weeks = 36 hours per week J Barfield wants to question why the 2 (6) credit hour; prefers a single 6 credit which will lower number of hours required L Grant questions the 59% of colleges want to stay ; believes that is not accurate C Young Advisory Committee asked, If a student had begun internship but needed hours, can that student complete in the new semester? Answer this would mess up Financial Aid L White asks that the 12 credit stay and that we allow a 6 + 6 and then not needing a PROBE. T Brundage Students cannot finish out diploma and/ or degree because of the 450 field work requirement; asks to allow the number of contact hours to change L Grant questions where the 450 hour requirement came from originally; Answer - came from us wanting our students to be in a lab/ field work classroom from school start to finish; find date to see how many hours a student needs to be effective in the course T Carr her students are in the public schools; asks does lowering the credit hours have an effect on Financial Aid? J Barfield asks to lower required hours because of the downtime in a K classroom J Jones offers that she works with directors and school system to negotiate hours; disagrees that our students need not be in the classroom during naptime; helps students adapt better to a work schedule when they can see an entire day S Lowery our ECCE degree program is already at the top of the required hours list; lowering this internship course to 6 or 9 credits will allow us to add a course in the future like a technology course; we cannot add at this time because of the 72 hours limit J Barfield lowering the number of credits allows me to adapt to my student s needs, allows options P Smith Advisory Committee said that changing this course might negate articulation agreements already in place; do we have data to show how many students are not finishing diploma or degree due to length of field work/ hours? P Smith recommends that this ECCE 2240 revision committee keep going to find equitable solutions that can be voted on in the Fall meeting. Bea Stitzer is not in attendance and P Smith asks that members present who would like to join the committee email B Moore. D Higgins suggests that each college get data on number of non-completers (because of internship requirements); give this information to committee C Young can we get an idea of what this group would vote for (now) since we have had an exchange of ideas and this discussion? Can we get a consensus as a starting off point for the committee? P Smith calls group back and begins gathering college votes of the three (current) options: Choice A keep the credits at 12 and the hours at 450 Choice B Move to a 6/ 6 and split the required hours Choice C Reduce to 9 or 6 credits and lower the required hours Each college voted: Albany Preference
