Purpose of the role : To provide a patient and family centred, evidenced-based approach to the assessment, management and treatment of a range of patients within an interdisciplinary team framework Clinical cover is provided across both hospitals including statutory holidays and weekend roster as required. Services are delivered in accordance with Waitemata DHB Strategic Plans The provision of a high standard of Physiotherapy practice to patients. Appropriate assessments are conducted within specified timeframes and to agreed standards. Agreed intervention is based on the findings of the assessment and the patient s needs and goals. Intervention is implemented according to best practice principles. Intervention/ therapy is planned and implemented in collaboration with patient and family/whanau and interdisciplinary team as appropriate Documentation standards are met and accurately demonstrate patient care and progress. Intervention/therapy is provided in a culturally aware and sensitive manner/context. Boundaries of practice are identified / recognised and referral on occurs as appropriate. Autonomous caseload management, seeking senior support for complex situations. Participation in On-call and weekend roster for Acute Allied Health Service on completion of training and credentialing. Quality Assurance. Professional Standards of Practice are met in accordance with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and Physiotherapy New Zealand Professional supervision takes place on a regular basis with professional supervisor (as per SMHOP, Acute and Emergency Medicine (A&EM), Surgical and Ambulatory Services (SAS) Policy). Annual review follows performance development guidelines with objectives which are reviewed on a regular basis. Responsibility is taken for own learning by recognising training and skill needs and undertaking professional development activities on an ongoing basis. Professional Development Portfolio is developed and maintained, including a training record. Participates in peer review. Contribution is made to development and review of best practice guidelines, policies and patient information sheets as appropriate. Provides training and education of students of own discipline (contributes to learning needs of students of other disciplines as appropriate). Completes Waitemata DHB mandatory training. Quality of service. Criteria for admission / prioritisation to service are followed. Active contribution to the functioning and development of the interdisciplinary team, including orientation of colleagues, meetings and case conferences as appropriate There is participation in overall physiotherapy caseload management within the service, covering for other teams where necessary. Service criteria for prioritisation of workload are followed, including allowing time for non-patient related tasks. Participation in Team Meetings and Family Meetings. Promotion of the integration of students into the Service. Education to Waitemata DHB and external groups occurs in consultation with management. Professional networks with other physiotherapists are made and maintained to enhance the service for patients, and own professional development. Participates in the implementation of service developments, in conjunction with the Physiotherapy Professional and Clinical Leader. Provision of urgent physiotherapy cover for other teams in consultation with the Allied Health Team Leader/ Physiotherapy Professional and Clinical Leader (as appropriate) Accurate statistical information as per service requirements and documentation policy is maintained.
