Results across the province were also shared which show basic stats on how health units performed overall. 10.2 Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration - Letter of Support Dr. Kennedy shared a letter of support that was sent to the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration regarding a proposal submitted by Bruce Grey United Way, in partnership with Grey Bruce Welcoming Communities under the Settlement and Integration Services for Refugees and Vulnerable Newcomers grant program. The proposed 18-month project will address service gaps and pressures in our region, and provide new service infrastructure to address the needs of vulnerable clients. Moved by: Laurie Laporte Seconded by: Al Barfoot THAT, the Board of Health support the application for a grant to support settlement and integration of refugees and vulnerable newcomers. 10.3 Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Expert Panel on Public Health Report In February 2015, the province launched the Patients First: Action Plan for Health Care. Part of this action plan, includes a requirement for the public health sector and the province s local health integration networks (LHINs) to work together in an integrated health system. As a first step in realizing this requirement, the Government of Ontario established the Expert Panel on Public Health. The report, Public Health within an Integrated Health System, was shared. 10.4 Nuclear Fallout The Board asked about a recent letter in Grey Bruce This Week wherein the writer asked if the Grey Bruce Health Unit was ready for a nuclear fallout should U.S. president Donald Trump engage in a nuclear strike against N. Korea.
