Summary AMAROUT II is a Marie Curie Action (PEOPLE-COFUND FP7). Continuation of AMAROUT, aimed at hiring researchers ( from 1 to 3 years) Wider impact: to foster and consolidate the European Research Area by attracting to Europe and, in particular, to the region of Madrid top research talent. AMAROUT II is cofinancing from 2012 to 2017 up to 170 fellowships for experienced and very experienced researchers to carry out their individual research projects within the IMDEA (Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies) network of research institutes, created by the Madrid Regional Government with the aim of satisfying social needs through R+D+I (Research, Development and Innovation) and passing them on to society. One of the objectives of the IMDEA network is to maintain close links with the Industry. The IMDEA institutes have collaborated with more than 345 companies within the framework of research projects, and maintain strategic ties with 50 of them. Intersectoral dimension

Summary The IMDEA Institutes have created a critical mass of leading international researchers: more than 500 scientists from all over the world. About 300 of them are PhDs, almost 40% of these are foreigners, from over 34 different nationalities, obtaining their Ph.D. degrees from the most prestigious centers in more than 42 different countries. Management structure The Fellowship Management Unit (FMU). Responsible for the overall programme management. Programme Coordinator and the Local Points from each Institute. Meets every quarter. The Joint Secretary (JS). Supports FMU in all administrative matters. Formed by the General Manager of IMDEA Software, the IMDEA General Coordinator, and the Programme Coordinator. Supported by technical and administrative staff of IMDEA Software. Meets every week. The Board of Directors (BD). Responsible for the programme s strategic decisions. Application process Open call with 13 Quarterly cut/off dates Through a tailor-made web application developed by IMDEA Software: http://amarout.imdea.org/about CV and research project Applicants have permanent access to the status of their application through the web tool. Evaluation and Assessment process timing Timing: Acknowledgement letter: to be given out within 1 day of receiving the application. Non-eligible letter / Evaluation-phase letter: to be given out within 7 days of receiving the application. Offer letter / Rejection letter: within 42 days after the cutoff date.
Evaluation and selection process Applying the EU principles for HR in R&I International, peer-review and indepedent evaluation Following European Charter and Code for Researchers Selection process open, efficient, transparent, supportive and internationally comparable. The Evaluation Panels: 7 evaluations panels responsible for evaluating the applications according to the programme s selection criteria. The Director of the Institute (leading the Panel) 3 international members of the Institute's Scientific Advisory Board. 2 experts (peer-reviewers) on the research & technological area of the Institute. The programme's Local Point at the Institute (acting as secretary). The Board of Directors: they will be in charge of deciding about granting fellowships (or not), depending on the overall ranking and the available positions.
Impact and results Project extension to 31/12/2017. Last call closed on 31/12/2016. 248 applications received 82 researchers hired, 47 renewed once, 25 renewed twice. EC contribution so far 3.9 M.
