We are happy to share with you some of the special events planned for Family Weekend 2013. Events span many interests, whether you are a parent of a first-year student or an old friend of Allegheny, and the schedule is designed to allow for plenty of free time and flexibility to enjoy and share in your student s Allegheny experience. Join us for the comedy of Tammy Pescatelli, attend a campus reception with President Mullen, cheer on the Gator sports teams, enjoy a campus TailGATOR, participate in recreational activities with your student at the Wise Center and much more. Please continue to check the Allegheny website for up-to-date schedules and information. Throughout Family Weekend you can stop by the Campus Center lobby and pick up information about events on campus and in the Meadville area. We re looking forward to seeing you! Friday November 1 Wise Center open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Family members may use the Wise Center as a guest of a current student. Sponsored by the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils. 9:30 11 p.m. Comic/Magician Mat Franco, Campus Center Lobby. Join Gator Activities Programming (GAP) for an evening of comedy and illusion! Mat Franco became fascinated with the art of magic at the age of four. Throughout the years, he s developed a unique performance style blending hilarious comedy with astonishing magic. He s recognized for creating presentations that allow for spontaneity and improvisation and lots of audience participation.

Campus Center Game Room open from noon to midnight 9 a.m. Family Weekend Information Table, Campus Center Lobby. Staffed until 10 a.m. 9 a.m. 1 p.m. John Mangine, Associate Director of the Learning Commons, Campus Center. John will be available to meet individually with families who have specific questions about disability services or academic support. If you would like to meet with John during this time period, please contact him by October 25 to set up a time. All meetings will take place on the third floor of the Campus Center. 10 11 a.m. Commencement 101, Campus Center, 3rd floor. Join the Office of Conference & Events staff and the Career Education staff for a tentative schedule and explanation of events planned for Commencement weekend and to learn about services available to the Class of 2014 through the Career Services Office. 10 a.m. Noon Summer Learning Symposium, Campus Center, 2nd floor. The Allegheny College Center for Experiential Learning (ACCEL) invites you to attend the annual Student Summer Learning Symposium, featuring posters by students who participated in Experiential Learning Seminars and Service-Learning trips during Summer 2013. Student presenters have been selected through faculty and staff recommendations and an application process. 11 a.m. noon Experiential Learning Travel Seminars and ACCEL Information Table, Campus Center, 2nd floor. Stop by to chat with members of the staff from the Allegheny College Center for Experiential Learning to learn about the services, programs and opportunities available through the ACCEL office. You can also
gather information about the ACCEL Travel Seminars that will be available for May 2014 and meet the faculty involved in those trips. 11 a.m. North Coast Athletic Conference Men s and Women s Cross Country Pre-Championships Race. Go Allegheny! 11:30 a.m. TailGATOR, Campus Center Lawn (rain location inside the Campus Center). A free picnic lunch and campus celebration! Food will be served until 1 p.m. 1 p.m. Men s and Women s Swimming. Allegheny vs. Penn State-Behrend. 4 5:30 p.m. President s Reception, Tippie Alumni Center at Cochran Hall. President Mullen cordially invites you to an open house in the Tippie Alumni Center. A number of student services administrators will also be available to meet and talk with families. 5 p.m. Family Weekend Dinner, Brooks Dining Hall. Social activities will be available during dinner hours for students and families. Dinner lasts until 7 p.m. Students with a meal plan can charge this meal and use guest meals for family members. Those without a campus meal plan will be able to use cash at the door. Sponsored by the Office of Residence Life. 7 8 p.m. Legacy Dessert Reception, Tippie Alumni Center at Cochran Hall. Legacy students current students whose sibling(s), parent(s), and/or grandparent(s) attended Allegheny and their family members are invited to gather for a dessert reception to celebrate their family s longstanding connection with Allegheny. A separate invitation will be sent for this event. 8 p.m. Comedian Tammy Pescatelli, Shafer Auditorium. Please note: Some mature subject matter - viewer discretion advised (PG 13). Veteran comedian Tammy Pescatelli (originally from Cleveland) has entertained audiences all over the world. She has her own hybrid reality show on WEtv, A Standup Mother, which follows her as she juggles being a wife, mother and comedian. In 2010 she won Comedy Central s Standup Showdown. Tammy was on the second and third seasons of Last Comic Standing and finished in the finals both seasons. She has performed several times on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and has appeared on CBS s The Talk, BravoTV s Rocco s Dinner Party, Comedy Central s Tammy Pescatelli Half Hour Special and The World Stands Up, TVGuide s Standup in Stilettos, Nickelodeon s Mom s Night Out, CNN s The Joy Behar Show, HDNET s Naughty but Nice, The Bonnie Hunt Show, Last Call with Carson Daly, Dennis Miller, Comics Unleashed, The DL Hughley Show, Balderdash, GSN s Poker Stars, TBS s Very Funny at the Laugh Factory, Comedy TV and on other networks such as TV Guide, CMT, E!, VH1,
MTV, and A&E. A regular friend of the show of the Bob & Tom Show, she is also a regular fixture on the Comedy Channels of Sirius/XM. She made her debut on the Opie and Anthony Show in 2010. As an actress, she has had roles in the films Made in Brooklyn, Single: A Documentary and Everybody Wants to Be Italian. Tammy has done six USO tours to entertain the troops. Campus Center Game Room open from noon to midnight 9:30 a.m. Family Weekend Roman Catholic Mass, Ford Chapel. 10 a.m. 2 p.m. Delta Delta Delta Pancake Breakfast, Schultz Banquet Hall. Join Delta Delta Delta for their annual pancake breakfast, with all proceeds going directly to St. Jude Children s Research Hospital. Tickets are available at the door: $5 for all you can eat. Food, prizes, games and more! 10 11:30 a.m. Religious Life Breakfast, Tillotson Room, Tippie Alumni Center at Cochran Hall. Families are invited to join the Religious Life staff for fellowship and a light breakfast. Please feel free to join us after Mass or before the Nondenominational Service. 11 a.m. Non-denominational Service, Ford Chapel. A current schedule will be maintained on the Allegheny website.
