13 Course Descriptions: NRN 110: Foundations for Success for Registered Nursing Students Corequisite: NRN 41, NRN 41.1, NRN 41.2, NRN 41.3, NRN 50.41 Lecture: 12-13.5/course Lab: 36-40.5/course Introduction to professional behaviors, attitudes, and values that lead to academic and professional success in nursing. Historical trends that influenced the role of the nurse as a knowledge-worker and current educational preparation will be explored. Test taking strategies, study skills, individual learning styles, communication, and stress reduction are explored. The learning environment is created to foster collaboration and curiosity. NRN-30: Basics of Pharmacology for Nursing Practice (1) Corequisite: NRN 41, NRN 41.1, NRN 41.2, NRN 41.3 Introduction to the basic concepts of pharmacology for nursing practice. Emphasis is on promoting and understanding pharmacological principles and safe drug administration. Students are introduced to the value of competence in the safe administration of medications. Supervised practice is provided. NRN 50.42: Supervised Nursing Skill Practice II (0.5) Corequisite: NRN-42.3 This course facilitates the mastery of intermediate nursing skills. Supervised practice is provided. NRN 50.43: Supervised Nursing Skill Practice III (0.5) Corequisite: NRN-43.3 This course facilitates the mastery of advanced nursing skills. Supervised practice is provided. NRN 50.44: Supervised Nursing Skill Practice IV (0.5) Corequisite: NRN-44.1 In this course, integration and mastery of skills learned in previous semesters is expected, ensuring the value of competence. Supervised practice is provided. Student performance is evaluated and documented through competency testing using established standardized criteria. Knowledge, understanding, and application of the value of competence in providing nursing care are emphasized.

17 NRN-45: Special Projects (1-3) This course is designed for nursing students who are interested in researching topics beyond the scope of a regular nursing course. The course details will depend on the topic chosen and its scope. The individualized course is based on the selected research or application of nursing theory within a simulated or actual clinical environment. The core values of caring, collaboration curiosity and competence must be focused on selected nursing skills.
