Wayne State College RHOP: Deadline November 15, 2014. The Rural Health Opportunities Program is a cooperative program between the Nebraska state colleges and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). The purpose of the program is to recruit and educate students from rural Nebraska who will return to practice in rural areas of the state. This program represents a commitment and dedication to the education of Nebraskans and quality health care for citizens of the state. Participants in the program spend time both at WSC and UNMC with the amount of time at each depending on the program. If selected to participate in the WSC RHOP program will receive the following contingent upon maintaining the conditions of the program: (1) Tuition waiver at Wayne State College (2) Guaranteed admission to the relevant UNMC program. The Kearney Health Opportunities Program (KHOP) is a cooperative program between the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). The purpose of the program is to recruit and educate students from rural Nebraska who are committed to returning to rural Nebraska to practice healthcare. This program represents a commitment and dedication to the education of Nebraskans and quality health care for citizens of the state. A brochure can be found by clicking here. An application can be found here. Chadron State College RHOP: The application deadline for the Medicine option is November 15. The application deadline for all other options is December 1. RHOP, is a cooperative agreement between Chadron State College and the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The purpose of the program is to recruit and educate high school students from rural Nebraska who will return to practice in rural areas of the state. This program represents a commitment and dedication to the education of Nebraskans and quality health care for citizens of the state. Nontraditional students from rural Nebraska will be considered and are encouraged to apply. Peru State College RHOP: Application deadline is December 1. The Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP) is a cooperative program between Peru State and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Students admitted into the RHOP must be from a rural background. The purpose of the program is to recruit and educate students from rural communities who will plan to practice in the rural areas of Nebraska. It represents a commitment and dedication to quality health care for the citizens of the state. Upon selection into the RHOP, 1

students are automatically pre-admitted into their specific program at the UNMC. Students are strongly encouraged and expected to practice in the rural areas of Nebraska. Currently, Peru State has been allocated three seats in the pharmacy program and four seats in the nursing program. If selected as a participant in the program each student will: receive a full tuition waiver while enrolled at Peru State, provided the student maintains good standing within the RHOP; receive acceptance to the UNMC as he/she begins the pre-professional curriculum at Peru State; follow a special curriculum at Peru State that will prepare the student for studies at UNMC; have recognition of their desire to become a health care professional. Board of Trustees Scholarship (competitive/merit based): Provides full-tuition scholarships for Nebraska high school graduates who score a 25 or above on their ACT 1700 on SAT and plan to attend college the following fall. The Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees is currently offering full-tuition scholarships to attend Chadron, Peru or Wayne State Colleges. The renewable scholarships will be awarded for the 2015-2016 academic year and represent a more than $16,800 financial award when renewed over four years. Students wishing to enroll at Chadron State and Wayne State Colleges must complete an application for admission and a general scholarship application to be considered for the Board of Trustees' Scholarship. Student applying at Peru State College must complete an application for admission which also serves as Peru State's general scholarship application. Please note - there is no separate application for this scholarship as has been the case in the past. Governor's Opportunity Award (competitive/merit based): Provides half of the tuition costs for Nebraska high school graduates who score between 21 and 24 on the ACT or between 1500 and 1650 on the SAT and plan to attend college the following fall. In partnership with the Governor, the Nebraska State College System is currently offering half-tuition Governor Opportunity Awards to attend Chadron, Peru or Wayne State College. The renewable scholarships will be awarded for the 2015-16 academic year and represent a more than $8,400 financial award when renewed over four years. Students wishing to enroll at Chadron State and Wayne State Colleges must complete an application for admission and a general scholarship application to be considered for the Governor's Opportunity Award. Students applying at Peru State College must complete an application for admission which also serves as Peru State's general scholarship application. Please note - there is no separate application for this scholarship as has been the case in the past. Wayne State College General Scholarships: Deadline December 1, 2014. Wayne State College offers a variety of scholarships and opportunities for prospective students. Students who have shown successful academic and extracurricular participation during high school are eligible for consideration for merit scholarships. Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship: Deadline December 5, 2014. Application is in the guidance office and on Sycamore. 2

Peter Kiewit Institute: Deadline December 15, 2014. PKI offers over two hundred scholarships to students in undergraduate programs based within PKI. The academic scholarships vary in terms of requirements, field of study and financial need. Additional information regarding scholarship opportunities and application materials can be found at this link. Walter Scott, Jr. Scholarship: Deadline December 15, 2014. This scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship extended by the University of Nebraska s PKI. Scholars are chosen from the best and brightest students who are committed to life-long learning and prepared to contribute to society and the future of technology. The Scott Scholarship covers room and board, student fees, course books, and a laptop computer. When paired with UNO s Regents Scholarship, it is considered a full-ride scholarship. Qualifications include ACT composite score of 30 or higher; demonstrated leadership abilities; and a cumulative 3.5 GPA. Applications can be found at this link. Elks National Foundation Emergency Educational Grant Program: Deadline December 31, 2014. For an application, contact ENF Scholarship Office at 773.755.4732 or scholarship@elks.org. Must be a child or grandchild of an Elks Club member. University of Nebraska Lincoln Scholarships: Apply to UNL by January 15, 2015. This link has more scholarship information for UNL. Chadron State College General Scholarships: Deadline January 15, 2015. Scholarship information and applications can be found at www.csc.edu/finaid. Peru State College General Scholarships: Deadline January 15, 2015. In order to be considered for PSC scholarships students need to submit our Application for Admission & Scholarships available online at www.peru.edu/admissions, submit official high school/college transcripts, and submit official ACT or SAT test scores (not required for transfer students). Nebraska Elks Association Past Exalted Ruler Scholarship: Deadline January 15, 2015. Application is in the guidance office and on Sycamore. Nebraska Elks Association JB Ferguson Golf Scholarship: Deadline January 15, 2015. Application is in the guidance office and on Sycamore. NAIFA William Emanuel Endowed Scholarship: Deadline January 23, 2015. You can download an application here. Elks National Foundation Legacy Award Scholarship: Deadline January 30, 2015. Apply at www.elks.org/enf/scholars. College bound seniors who are the children or grandchildren of dues-paying Elks are welcome to apply. Marie Curie Scholarship For Science or Math: Deadline January 30, 2015. With the support of the National Science Foundation, College of Saint Mary offers a unique and competitive program for academically talented students who excel in math and science. The Marie Curie Scholarship provides significant financial support and resources for young women who want to 3

major in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Medical Technology. Click this link to find more information about the scholarship and an application. Acacia Leadership Scholarship: Deadline January 31, 2015. This scholarship is for any male students attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The application can be found at http://bit.ly/acacia_unl. Susan T. Buffett Scholarship: All application materials are due by February 1, 2015. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is due March 15, 2015. Apply at http://buffettscholarships.org/. Students must attend a public 2 or 4 year university in Nebraska, i.e. UNL, UNO, UNK, Wayne State College, Chadron State College, Peru State College, Metro Community College, Northeast Community College, Southeast Community College, Central Community College, plus any two year public institution in Nebraska. University of Nebraska Kearney Scholarships: Apply to UNK by February 1, 2015. In order to be considered for academic scholarship awards a new student must meet minimum criteria. Those minimum criteria are: admission to UNK by February 1, 2015 plus a composite score of 23 on the ACT (or 1070 on the SAT combining the verbal and critical scores only) and a class rank in the top 30% of the high school graduating class. A list of UNK scholarships can be found here. University of Nebraska Omaha Scholarships: Apply to UNO by February 1, 2015. For more information regarding scholarships at UNO click on this link. Nebraska Society Professional Engineers (State Chapter): Deadline February 1, 2015. The criterion required to enroll in an accredited engineering curriculum in the State of Nebraska. The State NeSPE Eastern Chapter scholarships are $1,000 and 2 scholarships are available. Nebraska Society Professional Engineers (Eastern Chapter): Deadline February 1, 2015. The criterion required to enroll in an accredited engineering curriculum in the State of Nebraska. The State NeSPE Eastern Chapter scholarships are $1,000 and 2 scholarships are available. Omaha Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women: Deadline February 1, 2015. The OACCW will offer an annual scholarship to a female high school senior in the Archdiocese of Omaha in the amount of $500. To apply for this scholarship, applicant needs to be a Catholic female and must submit the completed application form, with transcripts attached, and a priest evaluation. America s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders: Application is open from November 15, 2014-February 1, 2015. Application can be found at ffa.org/scholarships. Applicants do not need to be FFA members. Check out Sycamore for a list of eligibility criteria. Hy-Vee Foundation Scholarship Program: Deadline February 10, 2015. Applicants must be a high school senior working for Hy-Vee or subsidiary who began employment on or before September 15, 2014 or a high school senior son and/or daughter of a full, regular, or part-time Hy-Vee or subsidiary employee who has a minimum of six months employment as of September 15, 2014. Application is in the guidance office. 4

Excel Physical Therapy College Scholarship: Deadline February 20, 2015. Eligibility for the scholarship requires a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater through the first semester of your senior year; active involvement in a varsity sport or other school sanctioned extra-curricular activity; planned enrollment in a four year college/university with the intention to major in a physical therapy course of study. Excel will award a minimum of five $1,000 scholarships. The Metro Omaha Chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society: Deadline February 27, 2015. Two $1,000 nursing scholarships will be awarded to Metro Omaha area high school seniors planning to pursue careers in nursing. To be eligible students must be a high school senior interested in a nursing career who is planning to be enrolled for Fall 2015 at an accredited nursing program. Special consideration will be given to students with an interest or special commitment to Oncology Nursing; have a GPA of 3.0 or higher; and actively participate in both school and community activities. Clements Band Scholarship: Deadline is February 27, 2015. This scholarship is awarded to incoming freshman student who participate in band at Peru State College. Application is in the guidance office. Helen Naeve Douglas Music Scholarship: Deadline is February 27, 2015. This scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman majoring in music education at Peru State College. Application is in the guidance office. Buick Achievers Scholarship Program: Deadline February 27, 2015. Applicants should be high school seniors and current undergraduates; those who plan to enroll full time at a four-year college or university in 2016-2016; and those who plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry. Applications can be found here. Engebretson Foundation Scholarship: Applications are due March 1, 2015. Apply at http://www.engebretsonfoundation.org. Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered: 1) Financial Need: Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) must be at or below $8000/year. (2) Academic Merit: Score a 28 composite or higher on the ACT exam (or at least 1240 on the SAT exam); GPA 3.75 or above and/or top 5% of graduating class (other factors considered will be strength of academic course schedule and/or academic improvement). (3) Leadership Potential: factors considered include teacher recommendation (see application), work experience (after school job etc.), extra-curricular activities, and community service. Nebraska Academy of Sciences: Deadline March 1, 2015. Please access their website at neacadsci.org to download the scholarship descriptions, requirements, and the application summary page. National Society Professional Engineers: This organization for professional engineers provides several scholarships for students enrolling in engineering programs in college. The deadline for most scholarships is March 1, 2015. For additional information, applications, and deadlines for these scholarships, visit http://www.nspe.org/resources/students/scholarships. 5

McAleer/Pierce Memorial Scholarship: Deadline March 1, 2015. The amount of this nonrenewable scholarship is $500. The scholarship is intended for a gradating student with a permanent physical disability or a graduating student who has a parent(s) with a permanent physical disability. Interested students who meet the above qualifications are asked to complete a College Funding Estimator worksheet. You can locate the worksheet online at www.educationquest.org. Click on College Funding Estimator in the list on the bottom right and then click on College Funding Estimator 2015-2016; print out the completed worksheet and include it with the application. Sycamore Education Scholarship: Deadline March 1, 2015. $500 will be awarded to a student who wishes to further his or her education in a Business, Technology, or Education based field. Applicants must have maintained between a 3.2 and 4.0 GPA throughout his or her final two years in high school and fully complete the scholarship application. Marine Corps League Scholarship: Deadline March 2, 2015. Seniors who plan to attend a four-year or two-year college or vocational school are eligible. Criteria for selection include academic achievement as documented by GPA, ACT/SAT scores, and evidence of advanced coursework; high school and community activity participation; community service activities; character and exemplary personal qualities as documented by a letter of recommendation, and completion of a brief essay on American freedom. D.J. s Hero Award: Deadline March 4, 2015. These awards recognize Nebraska high school seniors who exemplify dedication of faith, selfless acts for others and commitment to the community. The application is available online by visiting GiveSalvationArmy.org. Honorees of this award will receive a $10,000 scholarship toward their selected university or college. Cabela s Women in Leadership Scholarship: Deadline March 7, 2015. Applications can be found at www.thehugefoundation.org. The scholarships will be awarded to women who graduate in the spring and plan to attend college the following fall. Scholarship winners may attend any college or university. Scholarship winners will receive $10,000-$2,500 a year for four years-as well as the opportunity to be mentored by women in leadership positions at Cabela s. They also have the opportunity to receive internships within the Cabela s organization and cultural enrichment and networking through the Huge Foundation. Fremont Area Association of Retired School Personnel Scholarship: Go into education. Top quarter of the class, character, academics, leadership, skills, need. Scholarship is for $1,000. Phillip Schrager Scholarship: Deadline March 15. Leadership in academics, attend UNO, and applied to UNO. Application can be found here. Metro Community College: The deadline for scholarships beginning in the Summer Quarter is typically March 15 and the deadline for scholarships beginning in the Winter Quarter is October 15. Fremont Area Association of Retired School Personnel Scholarship: Deadline March 18. Criteria for this scholarship includes: must pursue a career in Education; be graduating from a Fremont Area High School; must be in the upper quarter of the senior class. Credit Professionals International: Scholarship is based on need, character and interest in furthering education in the business area. Altrusa International, Inc. Fremont Scholarship: Top of 25% of class. The Nebraska Society of Mayflower Descendants Burt & Becky Whedon Memorial Scholarship: Deadline March 31, 2015. Scholarship applicants must be a resident of Nebraska and a U.S. citizen. Applicants will be evaluated by a written essay, GPA and class rank, ACT or SAT scores, honors received, school or volunteer activities, employment, demonstrated leadership and a letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor. Essays will be evaluated for content, organization, style, grammar, and creativity. Sources must be cited in appropriate bibliographic style. To apply, click here. Nebraska Legal Professionals Association: Deadline is March 31, 2015. There will be a $1,000 scholarship for first place and $500 scholarship for second place. All applicants must be enrolled full-time in paralegal, legal secretarial, criminal justice or a law-related undergraduate program. Hazel Keene Memorial Scholarship: Deadline is April 1, 2015. This scholarship is being offered to a graduating high school senior planning to continue his/her education in an art field at a college or trade school. K.S. Farris Memorial Scholarship: Deadline is April 1, 2015. This scholarship is being offered to a graduating high school planning to continue his/her education in an art field at a college or trade school, OR to a college student trying to complete a degree in an art field. Fremont Area Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship: Deadline April 1, 2015. Scholarship is based on academics, character, leadership, and dedication to a health career. Four scholarships of $2,000 each are given to area high school graduates who deserve and have demonstrated outstanding ability and interest in a health career. Fremont Rotary Club Scholarship: Student has to be going into an academic field; academics, need, service, and character. K.S. Farris Memorial Scholarship: For those students who plan to study art in college. American Fire Sprinkler Association Contest: Deadline April 1, 2015. Pheasants Forever Scholarship: Deadline April 1, 2015. Students must have completed hunter education course and live in Dodge County. There will be one $500 scholarship available. Nebraska Coaches Association/Country Inn and Suites Scholarship: Deadline April 17, 2015. Student must be in top quarter of the class or 3.75 GPA; in two sports for at least two years and lettered in two sports; minimum ACT score of 24. Click here for the application. McDonald s Scholarship: Nebraska Association For The Gifted Scholarship: Deadline April 1, 2015. One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to a graduating Nebraska senior. Fremont Antique Car Club Scholarship: Deadline April 1, 2015. This scholarship is available to graduating seniors meeting the following guidelines: minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25; minimum ACT score of 18; must attend an accredited college or community college in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, or Wyoming; and must enroll in a course of study directly related to the automotive industry. This can include automotive technology, body and collision repair, and classic car restoration to name a few. Fremont Area Medical Center Foundation Scholarships: Deadline April 1, 2015. NSCS Advantage: The Nebraska State College System Advantage guarantees that first time freshman students who receive Federal Pell Grants will pay no tuition at Chadron, Peru, or Wayne State College. Midwest Student Exchange Program: MSEP is a tuition reduction program that makes attending 140 out of state colleges and universities more affordable for non-resident students. States involved are Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. Tuition may be no more than 150% of instate tuition at public institutions. Private colleges may reduce tuition by 10%. Not all programs at all institutions qualify.
