Purpose of the role : To provide high quality, efficient and effective dietetic service for patients and families/care givers To provide timely nutrition intervention for inpatients and outpatients where appropriate to improve their health status, rehabilitation and recovery at North Shore Hospital. To deliver services in accordance with WDHB strategic plans Provide high quality nutritional care for inpatients. Provide nutrition education to other health professionals Work effectively within an interdisciplinary team environment Provide support, nutritional advice and education to the Food and Beverage Services Appropriate clinical assessments are conducted in accordance to department prioritization criteria Patients with special nutritional requirements are assessed and appropriate treatment provided. Patients receive appropriate nutrition advice and education considering their social and cultural needs. Patients receive evidence-based and timely written and oral information that meets their nutrition education needs. Nutrition care is patient led and focus is on meeting patient goals. Projects to improve nutritional care undertaken as required. Nutrition standards for clinical practice and safety are maintained in accordance with professional and organisational standards. Special authority applications are completed in a timely manner and meet criteria as per PHARMAC Provides training for dietetic students including clinical supervision, observation, education sessions and feedback Timely and evidenced based training is provided that meets the education needs of WDHB staff Contributes to the functioning and development of the interdisciplinary team by attending ward rounds, team meetings and discussing patient care as appropriate.
