If you lose your booklet, please purchase another copy at the Orientation table in the Cohon Center lobby. Important Symbols - A Guideline Wrist Band - You need to wear your black/white wristband all week. Replacement cost for a new one is $10 to be purchased at the Orientation Table in the Cohon Center lobby. Student ID - This symbol indicates that you must have a Carnegie Mellon student ID to participate in the event. Activities Board - The Activities Board coordinates a wide variety of events to entertain and enrich the life of the campus community. The events represent a variety of topics and genres, and all the commitees work together to present a broad range of events for the campus throughout the year. Late Night - The Late Night logo designates events sponsored by the Student Activities Late Night Program. Late Night offers a diverse array of free events on select Friday and Saturday evenings in the Cohon Center from 9 p.m. - 1 a.m. Hosted by Student Organizations and the Office of Student Activities, there is always something to do. Visit: www.cmu.edu/latenight. Pittsburgh Connections - Through a generous grant from the R.K. Mellon Foundation, CMU students are offered discounted opportunities to engage in a wide variety of outdoor recreational activities located off-campus. Helping students develop and maintain a physically active lifestyle and connect to the Pittsburgh region, this program provides exciting recreational activities to students throughout the school year. Green Leaf - This symbol indicates events and organizations that are committed to sustainability and environmental awareness. Dining Information All meals will have vegan and vegetarian selections. If you have arranged for a special dietary need related to a medical condition or food allergy, your meal will be labeled and identified as a Special Dining Order and will be available in Wiegand Gymnasium. Please see your OC or RA for assistance or ask a member of the Dining Staff in Wiegand Gymnasium. DineXtra dollars are better than cash! If you run out of meal blocks or FLEX dollars, DineXtra is better than cash or credit when eating on campus and at our off-campus partners because you receive a bonus value of up to 10% of the amount added. You must report to The HUB to have a photo taken in order to receive your student ID Card, which serves as your room key. Please bring your Residence Hall Check-in envelope with you. Commuter students will receive their student ID Cards at Orientation Check-in or at the Commuter Students Reception at 3 p.m. this afternoon. Enrollment Services The HUB, Lower Level, Warner Hall A12 Visit The HUB to speak with a Student Services Specialist regarding general student account, financial aid and student loan inquiries. Questions regarding tuition payments, ID Cards and Plaid Cash accounts may be directed here. First-year course registration concerns may be addressed to individual colleges at this time. *After 2 p.m. students who reside in Shirley Apartments or Residence on Fifth, go to the Residence on Fifth Service Desk; all other residents, go to the Margaret Morrison Housing Services Office. Both locations are open 24 hours. 9

Please note that PNC Bank has been selected as the Carnegie Mellon preferred banking partner. Students with a PNC account can link it to their Carnegie Mellon ID card, which will then function as an ATM card. Following her remarks about the student experience and what families can do to support their students as they transition to college life, Dean Casalegno will open the floor to questions from students and family members. She will be joined by representatives from Student Affairs, Enrollment Services, Housing Services, Dining Services, University Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, Career and Professional Development Center and University Police who will be available to answer specific questions and look forward to demonstrating the web of support that exists as we welcome you to the CMU community. Mellon College of Science Students 5-6:15 p.m. - Mellon College of Science Welcome Dinner Rangos Ballroom, Cohon Center MCS students should plan to arrive promptly at 5 p.m. as dinner will include a program featuring a welcome from Dean Gilman and an introduction to the new core curriculum. 6:30 p.m. - Midnight - Carnegie Science Center MCS, SHS and BSA Students depart for Carnegie Science Center. Depart from corner of Morewood and Forbes Avenue near bus stop. Dean Grotzinger, MCS faculty and advisors along with MCS orientation counselors and the MCS mentors will join the MCS first-year students including SHS and BSA students for a fun night of activities at the Science Center. To launch your evening, there will be an Omnimax movie, science demonstrations, exploration of the universe in the Digital Dome, mentor guided exploration of the nationally renowned Carnegie Science Center and to end the evening, a make-your-own ice cream sundae. 37
