ADMINISTRATION DIVISION The Administrative Division of the Jamesburg Police Department includes the command staff and civilian administrative staff. The command staff includes the Chief of Police and Lieutenant. The Lieutenant oversees the Professional Standards, Administrative and Patrol Divisions. Command Staff Chief James J. PATROL DIVISION The Patrol Division is the backbone of the Police Department. The department has 10 patrol officers that are supervised by 3 patrol sergeants. Responsibilities Patrol Officers are responsible for the initial handling of all calls that are received by the communications center. These calls vary from disabled vehicles to felony level crimes in progress. Calls that necessitate an immediate arrest are handled and completed by the patrol officer including all processing and bookings of the suspect. DETECTIVE BUREAU DIVISION The Detective Bureau is currently staffed by 2 Detectives responsible for conducting all follow up investigations of reported incidents. Any crimes reported are reviewed by the Detective Bureau Sergeant and are assigned for follow up investigation. Detectives receive extensive training in several areas including: Crime Scene Investigation Fingerprinting and Identification Forensics Photography Narcotics Enforcement Interview and Interrogation Megan s Law registration In addition, the detectives encourage the sharing of information with members of the public. COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION The Communications Division is made up of 4 fulltime and 1 part-time 911 Emergency Dispatch Telecommunicator. The primary mission of the Communications Bureau is to facilitate prompt responses to public needs by providing a 9-1-1 public safety central answering point. Contained within the Bureau are the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) and the Public Safety Dispatch Point (PSDP) for all 9-1-1 calls that originate within the geographic boundaries of Jamesburg, N.J. The Communications Bureau supports the delivery of quality Police, Fire Rescue, and Emergency Medical services, and maintains all Borough communications capabilities including Radio, Phone & Internet.
