Carey Scholarships Academic Boosters Scholarship Awarded to at least one senior who has at least a 3.5 GPA pursuing a 2 or 4 year degree. Two letters of recommendation are needed: one from a teacher and the other from a non-family community member or current or former employer. The scholarship committee will conduct interviews with the top 8 applicants as part of the selection process. The check will be made out to the educational institution and the recipient. In the event the student does not attend the money will be returned to the organization. American Legion Earl Green Post #344 Scholarship The American Legion awards (3) $500 scholarships each year. The American Legion Post #344 Scholarship is available to any CHS senior who has been accepted to an accredited institution of higher education. Student must have a 2.5 GPA. Judging will be based on the completed application & financial need. This scholarship is payable to the college upon acceptance. If for some reason a decision is made by the recipient to not attend after acceptance, any unused money will be returned to the American Legion Scholarship Fund. *Ignore the main essay question on page 2 of the Unified Application and instead respond in that space to 1 of the 3 following topics using 500 words*. 1. What do you hope to attain from your college experience? Why did you select your chosen college/ university? 2. What are the most important qualities of a leader and how do they relate to you and your experiences? 3. Why have you chosen to continue your education? What do you hope to gain from it? Andrew Baldridge Memorial Scholarship This $1,000 scholarship is available to any senior planning to further his or her education. The selection committee will look at activities, community service and student aspirations. The check will be sent to the educational institution, in the name of the recipient, at the start of the school year. Athletic Boosters Scholarship This $250 scholarship is awarded to 2 senior boys and 2 senior girls who have at least a 2.6 GPA and participated in 2 varsity sports while in high school. The student must participate in at least 1 varsity sport their senior year, and plan to continue their education at a 2 or 4 year school. Two letters of recommendation must be attached to the Unified Application, one from a coach and one from a teacher. *For the open question at the bottom of page 1 of the Unified Application, please list your varsity sports involvement and what sport/s you played in your senior year. Ignore the main essay question on page 2 of the Unified Application and instead explain how participating in sports will help you in your chosen career AND how athletics have contributed to your educational experience*.

Blanchard Valley Health System Scholarship They offer several different scholarships on their website at www.bvhealthsystem.org. From the homepage choose Careers on the top bar and then choose Scholarships on the dropdown menu. Pay close attention to the criteria and due dates. Each scholarship has specific eligibility requirements. Most deadlines are around April 1. Brett Stombaugh Social Justice Scholarship JustWrite Solutions, a Northwest Ohio-based nonprofit grant writing company, awards one $1,500 scholarship each year to the student most likely to create positive social change in the world following graduation. The scholarship is available to any CHS senior who plans to further his/her education in social service. The review committee will give preference to those candidates who plan to work in the nonprofit or public service sectors. Students in any major may apply as long as they communicate how their future work will improve social justice in the world. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA to apply. The committee may conduct panel interviews to select the winner. JustWrite Solutions will send the scholarship check to the student s chosen educational institution, in the recipient s name, at the start of their first school year. Please use the Unified Application. Also, submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher, one letter of recommendation from an organization with whom you currently volunteer, and a 1,000-word (maximum) response to the following questions. 1. What have you done to improve social justice in your community? 2. Why did you choose your selected course of study? 3. After you graduate from college, how will you improve social justice in your community and our world? Carey Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship *Scholarship is not available this year.* Carey Board of Education Scholarship This scholarship is available to any CHS senior with a 2.5 or better GPA meeting graduation requirements and accepted into an accredited program. Complete the Unified Application and attach two references one from a teacher and the other from a community individual who is not a relative, in a sealed envelope. This scholarship will be awarded after the recipient submits a grade card for the first semester/quarter or proof of program completion. The funds will be paid directly to the student. Carey Education Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to one senior planning to pursue a 4 year degree in education. The $500 scholarship is disbursed at $125/year for 4 years. *For the open question at the bottom of page 1 of the Unified Application, please list any experience you have had tutoring, teaching Sunday School, or working as an aide at school. Replace the final question on page 2 with why you have chosen a career in education? Write a minimum of 200 words*.

Carey Fest Scholarship A $500 scholarship given to two seniors planning to pursue a 2 or 4 year degree. To be eligible a student must have a 3.0 GPA, exhibit financial need, and have extracurricular involvement. Attach one letter of recommendation from a school representative for a character reference. The check will be made out to the educational institution. *For the open question at the bottom of page 1 of the Unified Application, please describe your family s financial situation, where your parents work, how many dependents in the home, and how much financial aid you expect to receive from your parents or guardians. Explain in detail*. Carey Kiwanis Club Scholarship By action of the Carey Kiwanis Club, three (3) scholarships of $400.00 each will be awarded to three Carey High School seniors. The potential student must be planning to further his/her education in a post-secondary institution of learning. Although this is not intended as a need or academic scholarship, need/ or academics may be used as a final criteria if a winner or winners cannot be determined from other criteria. Selected students will receive a check from the Carey Kiwanis Club to be used toward their education. If any reason a selected student fails to continue his/her education, the scholarship must be returned and will be awarded to an alternate. Remember, attached to the application are two recommendation forms school & personal. The Dean B. Powell Scholarship This scholarship is available to both CHS seniors and any CHS alumni planning to pursue a 2 or 4 year degree. They must have a 2.5 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and provide evidence of acceptance at an accredited two- or four-year college or university, trade school or technical school. Other application materials are needed and are described on the special education form. Scholarships will be paid directly to the recipient s college, university, trade school or technical college to be used toward tuition, books and supplies, and school fees. *These applications are not returned to the guidance department. Please send all applications to the address listed on the specific application* Deane Dukes Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is intended to provide recognition and assistance to two CHS seniors planning to attend a 4-year college. It is a $250 award given to two students or $500 awarded to one recipient. The award will be given as long as the student actually attends a college, and he or she do not receive excessive scholarships or grants from other sources. Selection is based on the student s ranking in the upper one-third of their class and planning to major in one of the following three areas, listed by priority: math education, a sports related career (sports management, PE teacher, etc.), or education in general. The student must also be involved in extracurricular activities and have good character. The scholarship payment will be presented to the student after the successful completion of their 1 st quarter/semester.

The Fraternal Order of Police Award, Lodge #77 The Fraternal Order of Police, Wyandot County Lodge #77, will present this award to a senior meeting the following criteria: the recipient must be a resident of Wyandot County, have a 2.5 or better cumulative grade point average, and be accepted by a minimum two-year college or technical school. Students must also be enrolled in a law enforcement or criminal justice related program. Selection will also be based on financial need of the student, the application and the records of the applicant. Interviews may be held with students. Scholarship award will be made out to the institution and the designated winner. Remember to attach a high school transcript. Refer to specific application for further details. Gary W. Troll Memorial Scholarship *Scholarship is not available this year. Will be available for 2017 graduates.* This scholarship is through the Marion Community Foundation. This scholarship rotates to Wyandot County every 3 years, this is NOT our year. Requires 2.75 GPA, a short essay about an opportunity the applicant has had to demonstrate their leadership qualities, and 2 letters of recommendation: one from a teacher and one from a non-related community person. They will also look at overall academics, financial need, community service, etc. This application will be available ONLY on-line by mid-january. Look for it at www.marioncommunityfoundation.org. The deadline will be in mid-march, see the website listed. The Golden Tong Trust Scholarship Jesse Ekleberry 4-H/FFA Memorial Scholarship The recipient should have a Wyandot County 4-H membership and/or FFA experience for the past 5 years, including the year the scholarship is received. Selection will be based on the written application and a personal interview. Please list your 4-H and FFA activities in detail. Pick up application in government classroom. Recipient will be recognized and attendance is encouraged during Junior Fair Night at the Wyandot County Fair. Julie Marie Gottfried Memorial Baton Scholarship The recipient of this scholarship must have been a twirler, majorette, or drum major for at least one year for a school in Wyandot County. The recipient must also be accepted at a minimal 2 year college or technical school. Student should have at least a 2.5 GPA. *For the open question at the bottom of page 1 of the Unified Application, please include a paragraph describing your baton twirling experience.*

The Kirkwood Family Medical Scholarship The amount and number of these scholarships will vary from year to year. It will be awarded to CHS senior(s) who are planning to pursue a career in a health field, pre-med and nursing preferred. The student must have at least a 3.5 GPA and have exhibited high morals, along with good conduct and attendance. Financial need will weigh heavily in the scholarship selection process. A copy of the student s FAFSA student aid report (SAR) must be attached to the application. Be sure to list the college you plan to attend! You need to be officially accepted. *Replace the final question on page 2 with why you have chosen a career in nursing/pre-med and why you feel you should receive this scholarship.* Knights of Columbus Scholarship Award The Knights of Columbus Scholarship is available to a CHS senior who is the child or grandchild of an active member of the Carey Council #1925. Use the Unified Application to be eligible for this $200 scholarship. The check will be made out to the student. *For the open question at the bottom of page 1 of the Unified Application, please include the name of the person who is an active member of the Carey Council and how the senior is related.* Medical Mutual of Ohio Scholarship Moose Lodge #1093 (Upper Sandusky) Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to a Wyandot County senior who has a parent or grandparent who is a Moose Lodge member. The senior must be planning to further their education. *For the open question at the bottom of page 1 of the Unified Application, please include the name of the parent or grandparent who is a Moose Lodge member.* Music Boosters The applicant must be a member of band or chorus during their senior year and planning to attend college in the fall in ANY major. The scholarship will be sent to the winner s college or university after completion of the first semester/quarter of school. *For the open question at the bottom of page 1 of the Unified Application, please answer the following three questions.* 1. Why did you choose the college that you will be attending? 2. What is your major and why did you select it? 3. What was your most memorable moment in band or choir?

Pheasants Forever Scholarship The Wyandot County chapter of Pheasants Forever is sponsoring 3 $500 scholarships for students in Wyandot County who are pursuing a career in natural resource management. Please refer to their specific application for further details. Soccer Club Scholarship Scholarships awarded to graduating seniors planning to continue their education at a 2 or 4 year school. Involvement with the soccer program is the only other requirement to apply. The check will be issued to the student. Scholarship may vary on need. *For the open question at the bottom of page 1 of the Unified Application, please list the years you played in the Carey Soccer Club and any other ways that you were involved in the soccer program. It is not necessary to list GPA. Steven Cheney Memorial Scholarship To be eligible the student must rank in the top 25% of the class, plan to pursue a 4 year degree, and be involved in extracurricular activities. This $2,000 scholarship is paid out over 4 years. The first check for $500 will be sent to the winner after the student gives a copy of his or her grades for the 1 st quarter/semester to the CHS counselor along with a copy of the next terms schedule. Students must maintain a college GPA of 2.00 to continue to receive the scholarship each year. (Students must provide the same documentation at the end of the fall quarter/semester for all 4 years of the scholarship to receive payment. Timothy G. Gregory Memorial Scholarship Upper Sandusky Elks #83 Local Scholarship Upper Sandusky Elks Association Educational Grants Any prospective student (male or female) residing within the jurisdiction of a B.P.O. Elks Lodge belonging to the Ohio Elks Association, who plans to pursue an eligible educational program above or supplemental to high school or preparatory school level, may file an application. All Applicants must be citizens of the United States of America on the date the application is filed. This application must be filed with the Lodge Scholarship Chairperson, Exalted Ruler or Secretary of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge having jurisdiction in the area in which the student has legal residence on or before February 1, 2015. Only one application may be filed and must be filed with the Lodge of Jurisdiction. These grants will be awarded to applicants desiring to attend a career or technology institution. Applications available at http://www.web-ster.net/ohioelks/. Students must follow the directions exactly!

Upper Sandusky Emblem Club Book Scholarship These awards are available to any Wyandot County senior who has been accepted to an accredited institution of higher education to further his or her education in any academic area. 3 letters of recommendations are required. These recommendations must be from non-family members! *Please attach a headshot to the Unified Application.* Vaughn s Doug Porter Memorial Scholarship WXML/ Abby Snyder Memorial Scholarship The WXML Christian Radio/ Abby Snyder Memorial Scholarship is available to a senior who has at least a 2.5 GPA and has been active in church or Sunday school. Greater details can be found on the specific application. Scholarships will be awarded as follows: First Place-$1,500.00; Second Place-$1,000; Third Place-$750.00; and Fourth Place-$500.00 for the student s freshman year. Installment payments will be made directly to the college and prorated on either a semester or quarterly basis. *Please note the specific due date.* Wyandot County Retired Teachers Scholarship *Scholarship is not available this year. Will be available for 2016 graduates.* The $300 scholarship will be given to a senior who is majoring in education at a 4 year school. The applicant must have proof of enrollment. Selection will be based on academic excellence and financial need. One letter of recommendation from a teacher is required. Please complete the Unified Application. This scholarship will rotate every 5 years: 2011, 2016, etc. Wyandot County 4-H Scholarships These scholarships are available to seniors who are currently and have been active in 4-H for the past 3 years. One application is all you need to submit to be considered for the $-H Endowment Fund, the Courtright Family Scholarship, the Indian Mill Antique Association Scholarship, and the I & D Schoenberger Family Scholarships. Pay close attention to the specifications listed for completing this application. *Please note the specific due date.*

Wyandot County Young Professionals Scholarship Wyandot County Young Professionals is a new group that was started in December of 2012. Wyandot County residents, those who work in Wyandot County, or those who graduated from Wyandot County schools ages 18-45 can become a member. They have monthly meetings, and one of their goals is to create more jobs in the county and maintain the jobs we do have. Their main goal is to be an asset for the young people in the county to make them aware of the jobs that are here, and be a mentor to them; so that they return after having graduated from college to live and raise their families in Wyandot County. They are interested in giving a $1,000 scholarship to a senior planning to attain a 2 or 4 year degree. The student must fill out the unified application plus submit a resume and cover letter as if applying for their dream job. There is no GPA requirement. A group of members will be selecting the recipients: one student from Carey and one student from Upper. The check will be made out to the student. Wyandot County Sheriff s Auxiliary Scholarship Recipient must be a resident of Wyandot County and must be accepted for post-secondary training. Scholastic standing will not be the main concern (2.5 GPA required), but an interest in public service training is necessary to be considered. (Including, but not restricted to: corrections, criminal justice, law enforcement, industrial security, dispatcher training, retail security, peace office). Interviews may be held. Complete the Unified Application. Wyandot Memorial Hospital Foundation Five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to seniors who are Wyandot County residents, are pursuing a career in healthcare, and have at least a 2.5 GPA. Selection will be based on need, character and citizenship, commitment to community, and on content and completion of application. Specific application, proof of residency, and three letters of recommendation required. Refer to specific application for further details. Wyandot Soil and Water Conservation Scholarship *Scholarship may not be available this year.*
