Welcome to the Sanford Black Hills This two-day conference is designed to provide an update of current or emerging pediatric health care issues. The lecture format of the conference is designed to address a nursing and care provider audience ranging from inpatient to out-ofhospital care settings The conference will focus on new and changing diagnosis and treatment technologies including the challenges and rewards of providing nursing care to pediatric patients and their families. We will feature premier speakers discussing medical and surgical related topics across the broad spectrum of pediatric specialty care. Conference Objectives This education offering will enable the pediatric healthcare provider to: Examine current issues in pediatric health care Summarize emerging best practice approaches and treatment technologies in the delivery of pediatric health care Discuss common concerns related to pediatric nursing and the care of children and families Exchange ideas and resources with other pediatric health care providers Guest Speaker: Ken Cheyne, MD Dr. Cheyne is a graduate of the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and his fellowship in adolescent medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He is presently Medical Director of Blank Children s Hospital in Des Moines and Adjunct Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine. Dr. Cheyne practices adolescent medicine at Blank Children s Hospital in Des Moines. 1
